St. Stephen's is excited to have Consort Chorale in residence this summer for rehearsals and performances during their June-August season. If you're looking for a fantastic summer singing experience, new singers are most welcome. And, mark your calendars now for their concert on Sunday, August 16.
Audition Notice for "A Seed Marks Time". The music of Consort Chorale’s 31st season celebrates our roots and wings, as well as our sprouting into a long cherished summer choral community. Founding conductor Allan Petker will be our guest conductor this year, joined by artistic director Brad Schultz, associate conductor Sanford Dole, and collaborative keyboardist Chip Colvin as we prepare and present a program that highlights significant past Consort performances, as well as music that responds to the present time. Repertoire will include several past Consort favorites, including Handel’s “Dixit Dominus,” Whitacre’s “Lux Aurumque,” and works by Kevin Memley, Maurice Duruflé, Clara Schumann, Katerina Gimon and Paul Ayres. There will be pieces that speak to the power of music to help us comprehend the world that we find ourselves in, including “Light the World” by Connor Koppin, Robert T. Gibson’s arrangement of “We Shall Overcome,” and Dale Trumbore’s new setting of the words of Lynn Ungar’s poem, “A Seed Marks Time.” In addition, new works by Allan Petker and Sanford Dole will be conducted by the composers. All of this (and more!) awaits as we prepare for our concert with chamber orchestra on Sunday, August 16, 4pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere.
