Triple Update from Tom Henderson
1. Bypass Seminary — A New Learning Experience
This Thursday morning, Tom will undergo triple bypass surgery in Morristown, New Jersey. The surgeon plans to use an artery from Tom’s arm for the grafts. This type of graft is projected to last 15–20 years, and Tom is encouraged that his surgeon performs approximately 400 of these procedures each year.
Following surgery, Tom is expected to spend about 24 hours in the cardiac ICU before being moved to the cardiac floor. If all goes as planned, his total hospital stay will be approximately four to five days.
Recovery will take some time. Tom has been told that he will not be able to drive for approximately three months and that it will take about two months for his sternum to heal.
Tom shared:
“God will be with me, my family, and my friends. Join me as we continue to pray to see what God does in me and among us for His glory and our good.”
Please pray for Tom, his family, the surgeon, and the entire medical team—for a successful procedure, protection from complications, and a strong recovery.
2. House Repair Update — Praying for Favor
Progress continues slowly on repairs to Tom and Sue’s home after a storm caused a neighbor’s tree limb to fall onto their house.
Thankfully, they have located a month-to-month rental home about a mile away, and Tom, Sue, and the dogs are now temporarily settled there.
Last week, the damaged sheetrock, insulation, and flooring were removed, and blowers are currently running to dry the affected areas. They are now waiting for their sixth insurance adjuster to meet with them and provide the final numbers needed so repairs and rebuilding can begin.
Tom compared this season to Nehemiah 1—after the walls came down, Nehemiah prayed and sought God’s favor. In the same way, Tom and Sue are praying for favor with the insurance company and with everyone involved in repairing and rebuilding their home.
Please pray for favor, clear communication, timely decisions, and smooth progress so the repairs can move forward.
3. Update on Tom’s Dad
Tom’s dad has been moved to a new rehabilitation facility in South Jacksonville, where Tom’s niece works. This has been a tremendous help because she is able to visit him a couple of times each day while she is working.
He has approximately 50 days remaining that he is able to stay at the rehabilitation facility.
Please join Tom and his family in praying for his dad’s continued rehabilitation, strength and progress, and for wisdom as the family makes important decisions concerning his future care.
Please Keep the Henderson Family in Prayer
There is a lot happening at once for Tom and his family—heart surgery and recovery, rebuilding their home, and caring for his dad. Through it all, they are trusting the Lord and asking us to join them in prayer.
Pray for healing. Pray for favor. Pray for wisdom. And pray that through every circumstance, God will be glorified and His goodness will be evident.
