Just heard a fun story from one of our Godly Play volunteers. She was covering for our Co-Rector last Tuesday with our pre-school group. When she got up from the circle to get the story for the day she said to the children, "Let's see....which story did Miss Cheryl want me to tell you this week?" One of the children said, "Oh...just look and see which story the Bible is open to."
This is because every week we open the Bible to the story for the day. When we go to get the story we say something like, "Here is where you can find the story in the Bible...and here is where it lives in our room (as we pick up the box, or tray of materials we will use to tell the story). This helps the children understand that the stories all come from the Bible. They are listening!
