Have you ever embarked on a journey ill prepared? I am not asking about a vacation trip, or exclusively about physical travel The journey may be a medical one, or perhaps getting married or having your first (or second ... or third) child. Of course, to some degree, no amount of preparation can fully get one ready for everything that will come our way.

Still, preparing for a journey is a good and wise thing to do. There's an old adage, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." How true that is for us when we try to journey through life without first making our plans through God.

Join us this Sunday, 05/31/26 at 10:30, in-person or online at https://gastonchristian.church/watch as we begin a new series, "Road Trip Rules" using the Psalms of Ascent as our guide. This Sunday's message will be, "Prepare for the Journey." Please read Psalm 120.

Who does the laundry in your house? What about the dishes? I bet you have house elves who come in at night while you are sleeping and take care of all that, right?

No, of course not. (Though I am sure some of your family members act like it all happens by magic!)

The same is true for the church. Somebody has to do all the things necessary to make everything run smoothly. God has given gifts to each one of us for the purpose of making His church better. Among those gifts are some of leadership and service.

Join us this Sunday, 05/24/26 at 10:30, in-person or online at https://gastonchristian.church/watch as we look at God's plan for the church and those who lead us with the message, "Shepherds, Servants, and Sheep" from Ephesians 4:11-16. We will also pray over and appoint a new Elder and two Deacons.

The Doomsday Clock is currently set at "85 seconds to midnight." It is the closest to "doomsday" it has ever been in its 79 year history. Of course, 1) it is just an opinion and not a "real" countdown clock, and 2) it moves forwards and backwards as those who control it deem necessary (it began at 7 minutes to midnight and has been as far as 17 minutes to midnight. Still, it is a reminder that we are - according to some - perilously close to the end of life on this planet as we know it.

But are we? (Not intending to provoke political debate.) Are "we" the ones who will bring about the demise of human life, the end of the world? And just how close are we to the end of the world?

Join us this Sunday, 05/17/26 at 10:30, in-person or online at https://gastonchristian.church/watch as we conclude the series, "It's OK to Ask" with the message, "Are We Living in the End Times?" We will look at various Scriptures, but you can get a head start at 1 Peter 4:7-11.

"One more thing ..." does it sometimes feel like someone is always piling on "one more thing" - one more to-do, one more appointment, one more broken appliance, one more bit of bad news, one more crisis. How much "more" can you take?

I have heard people ask this question, or wonder aloud how much more does God think they can take. In fact, someone asked this question as part of our question series.

This Sunday is also Mother's Day. We have some gifs for mothers and for ALL ladies!

Join us this Sunday, 05/10/26 at 10:30, in-person or online at https://gastonchristian.church/watch as we continue the series, "It's OK to Ask" with the message, "Why Does God Give Us More Than We Feel We Can Handle?" We will look at various Scriptures, but you can get a head start at 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 and 1 Corinthians 10:13.

The Old Testament has some ... odd rules; prohibitions against eating certain foods, against planting two kinds of crops in the same field, and against wearing wool and linen at the same time, for examples. In fact, the whole OT is filled with stuff we don't understand and seems quite different from what Jesus taught, especially when it comes to how enemies were treated. What are we to do with all that? Do we ignore it? Do we pick and choose which commands to obey and which ones to disregard? And, I am allowed to work on Sundays?

Join us this Sunday, 05/03/26 at 10:30, in-person or online at https://gastonchristian.church/watch as we continue the series, "It's OK to Ask" with the message, "Is It a Sin to Wear Two Kinds of Fabrics at the Same Time?" (Yes, it was a real question that one of our students asked.) We will look at various Scriptures, but you can get a head start at Deuteronomy 22:11, Jeremiah 31:31-34, and Hebrews 8:8-13.
