In Matthew 6:16–24, Jesus asks us to consider what has our attention, what we treasure, and what ultimately has our allegiance. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Jesus isn't merely warning us about money or possessions. He is inviting us to consider whether the pursuits that fill our days are fleeting or truly last. This Sunday, we'll reflect on what it means to live with our hearts centered on God rather than on appearances, possessions, or the need for security.

We often think we need to find the right words when we pray, as though prayer were about convincing God to listen. In Matthew 6:7–15, Jesus reminds us that our God already knows what we need before we ask. We repeat the words of the Lord’s Prayer every Sunday, but prayer isn't a performance nor is it about impressing God. It is simply coming into the presence of the One who already knows us and loves us. This Sunday we'll consider what the Lord's Prayer teaches us about trusting God, bringing our ordinary needs to the Divine, receiving grace, and learning to extend that grace to others.

This Sunday:
In Matthew 6:1–6, Jesus reminds us that faith is not about impressing others or being noticed for the good things we do. Whether we are giving, serving, or praying, what matters most is the heart behind what we do. Jesus calls us to live out our faith sincerely—not to be noticed, praised, or approved by others, but simply because we love God and desire to follow faithfully. In a world that often encourages us to seek recognition, Jesus reminds us that God sees the things no one else sees, and that is enough.

What if the parts of ourselves we try hardest to hide are the very places where God meets us with love? This week, we will explore Psalm 139, a beautiful reflection on the gift of being completely known by God and the joy of discovering that we never have to pretend in God’s presence. Long before we accomplished anything or became who we thought we were supposed to be, God knew us, formed us, and called us beloved. Psalm 139 opens a window into the freedom, joy, and peace that come from knowing we are held by the One who knows us best.
