Part 15: Discovering God’s Will For My Life

Knowing God’s Will Comes From Knowing God’s Heart.

Four Aspects Of God’s Will

•God’s Sovereign Will
•God’s Moral Will
•God’s Permissive Will
•God’s Personal Will

1. God’s Sovereign Will: His unstoppable, unchangeable plan that directs all things toward His purpose.

“Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.” Isaiah 46:10 NLT

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 NIV

2. God’s Moral Will: His timeless truths revealed in His Word for how we live.

“God’s will is for you to be holy.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3

Hagios: Set apart, different, sacred, dedicated to God

3. God’s Permissive Will: The freedom God gives us to make choices, even when they’re not perfect

“You say, ‘I am allowed to do anything’ –but not everything is beneficial.” 1 Corinthians 10:23 NLT

“We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son.” Romans 8:28-29

4. God’s Personal Will: His unique, specific calling for you

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

Part 12: Choosing Unity In A Divided World

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one… so that the world may believe that you have sent me… that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me…”
John 17:20–23

A CHURCH THAT PLEASES GOD IS A UNIFIED CHURCH.

•UNITED; WE ARE STRONG.
•DIVIDED: WE BECOME WEAK AND INEFFECTIVE.

“There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him…a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” Proverbs 6:16, 19

1. WE HAVE ONE ENEMY.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

Divide the people of God so he can weaken the work of God.

Jesus said: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” John 10:10

•STEAL OUR UNITY.
•KILL OUR CREDIBILITY.
•DESTROY OUR WITNESS.

2. WE HAVE ONE MISSION.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19

3. WE HAVE ONE STRATEGY.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:34–35

“I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18

•Jesus loves His church.
•Jesus died for His church.
•Jesus is building His church.

Happy & Blessed Father to all the fathers. Remember as we are imperfect our role as fathers is not to be perfect, but to direct our families to the ONE who is perfect, our Father in Heaven! So direction not perfection is our responsibility!
