DON'T KEEP WHAT BELONGS TO GOD

If you've ever ministered through singing, speaking, teaching, or any form of expression, you've probably experienced the unique synergy that occurs between offering something to God and the sense of fulfillment that follows.

There is often joy, satisfaction, and even a measure of exhilaration when a song is released beautifully or a message lands effectively.

This is normal.

Whenever someone sings, speaks, teaches, or ministers publicly, there is often a natural sense of fulfillment when they have communicated well and given their best.

This feeling is not wrong. God created us to find joy in using our gifts faithfully and skillfully.

The danger is not in enjoying the gift.
The danger comes when we begin to enjoy the attention, affirmation, and glory more than the One for whom the gift was given.

This morning, the Lord highlighted something to me.

There are moments when people genuinely pour themselves out before God so that He may receive the glory. Yet there is also a subtle temptation that can arise simultaneously.

They may begin to enjoy the sound they released, the response they received, or the affirmation that followed so much that they quietly keep some of the glory for themselves.

Instead of using their gifts to glorify God, they begin to glorify themselves through their gifts.

This is where many begin to stumble.

Pride is deceptive because it rarely announces itself. It disguises itself as appreciation for our abilities, satisfaction in our accomplishments, or confidence in our gifting.

But over time, what began as gratitude can slowly shift into self-exaltation if it is not surrendered back to God.

This is the essence of Lucifer's fall. His heart became lifted up. He looked upon what had been entrusted to him and desired the glory that belonged to God alone.

He said in his heart, "I will ascend. I will be like the Most High." What was meant to reflect God's glory became a platform for self-glory.

Yet Jesus came and demonstrated the opposite spirit.

Lucifer said, "I will ascend and be like Him."

Jesus, though equal with God, humbled Himself. He descended and became like us.

He took on flesh, embraced servanthood, and humbled Himself even unto death.

Then God highly exalted Him.

Where Lucifer grasped for glory,
Jesus surrendered His rights.

Where Lucifer exalted himself,
Jesus humbled Himself.

Where Lucifer sought a throne,
Jesus embraced a cross.

Through His victory, Jesus not only dealt with sin; He also broke the power of pride over those who belong to Him.

Because of Christ, we can recognize the temptation to keep the glory and choose instead to surrender it back to the One who gave us every gift, every talent, and every opportunity.

The gift is ours to steward.
The glory is God's to keep.

"Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory." (Psalm 115:1)

EMBRACE TRANSITION

The Lord spoke to me and said many are in a season of transition.

Transitions can be difficult. If not carefully navigated, they can wreak havoc on a person’s mind, psyche, body, and emotions.

But when God highlights the season, He is calling your spirit to attention. He is positioning you to lead from the spirit rather than from fear, comfort, or familiarity.

First, we must recognize that transitions are often chaotic. They break us free from the familiar places where we have nested, settled, and grown comfortable.

Suddenly, the winds of transition begin to move, and the things that once operated with clockwork precision start shifting.

What once felt stable no longer feels predictable. You are experiencing the winds of movement that have come to shift you from one place to the next.

The Lord showed me that often when these winds of transition comes, people become so unsettled that they either move forward with the winds or the try to move against the winds.

Moving against the winds of transition often looks like trying to remain in the place that you've outgrown. It could also look like resisting change, praying against change, and working extra hard to keep things in place that you've outgrown.

Transitions are hard.
If we are going to grow,
we must learn to embrace them.

A child’s development is filled with transitions, and every stage stretches the mind and body into a new capacity. Yet some people never fully make certain developmental transitions and remain emotionally, mentally, or spiritually stuck.

In human development, there are some who never make some of these transitions for one reason or the other, and they remain stuck.

As the Body of Christ, we must recognize when we are in a season of transition and learn to move with the winds of change instead of fighting against them.

During upheaval, it becomes imperative to anchor yourself in worship.

Run to Him with the unsettling. Seek Him in the nerve-wracking moments. Bring Him the confusion, fear, and uncertainty.

When you surrender your soul to Him, He begins bringing alignment to the inner man. He focuses you. He steadies you.

Then the Scripture becomes real: “He will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him.” (Isaiah 26:3)

Worship stabilizes what transition tries to shake.

And from that grounded place, you will break through in your spirit and break forth into joy, even before the outward evidence of stability appears.
