After 133 years, Central Lutheran celebrated its final worship on November 26, 2023. During a special meeting, Central's members voted to determine how assets will be distributed and buyer for the property that will honor Central's legacy going forward. Central decided to sell the facility and property to the non-profit Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCSNW.org) with the mission of "Health. Justice. Hope." We anticipate closing on the sale in mid-February 2024.

Lutheran Community Services Northwest, having services in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, added to its staff Marc Hander as Community Engagement Manager. During the first 90 days, LCSNW and Marc will be assessing community services and paying special attention to gaps in services, specifically in the broad service areas within Bellingham and Whatcom County, focused around:
Behavioral Health,
Family and Community Support,
Refugee and Immigrant Services,
Child Welfare,
Aging and Independent Living, and
Crime Victim Services.

After a 90-day assessment period, LCSNW will strategize and engage in specific service(s) to offer out of their Bellingham offices. Services will be strategically added over time as funding and human resources are available.

Good evening, members and friends of Central Lutheran! Many of you have heard by now that Central will be closing our doors at the end of November. Part of the closure process includes a special congregational meeting where our members must ratify a vote we took in April stating our intent to close, plus approve a closure plan, and select a group who will receive the building to help us resolve our financial obligations.

Originally, this meeting was set for this Sunday, September 24th. HOWEVER...... we have to postpone it. We missed a deadline that we, as a corporation, had to make to the State of Washington to notify them of our plan to close.

A new date will be announced soon, and will likely land around mid-October, but I ask that our members please share with others who may not have heard that the meeting has been delayed...... WORSHIP is still happening, though - and you're ALWAYS welcome to join us for that!

Our final service is set for Sunday, November 26th at 3:00pm. More details will be provided as we get closer to that date, so stay tuned.

2) Team mentality – working collaboratively with staff and church members
3) Answer phones, maintain calendars for building usage and enforce usage guidelines
4) Administrative support for Pastor to include maintenance of congregational records and file systems
5) Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher) using PC platform
a. Learning Lutheran liturgy for developing weekly print bulletins
b. Preparation of weekly PowerPoints for on-site and streaming use (Facebook/Youtube)
6) Financial record keeping (offerings/accounts receivable) using established software – work with treasurer
7) Liaise with support staff (Dormitory RA, Janitors) as necessary
8) Contact person for building management vendors (phones, cameras, internet, fire/sprinkler and entry alarms)
9) Maintain webpage and social media presence
10) Other duties as agreed upon with church council
