Holy Cross Lutheran Church seeks a musician to lead the musical aspect of our weekly worship and occasional special services. The musician would play a prelude and postlude, accompany the hymnody, and assist the congregation in joining in the other musical parts of the liturgy. Music is an integral part of Lutheran worship, and we are excited to welcome a new musician to our community who will enhance our worship life.
The ideal candidate will bring a positive energy - affirming, inviting, and adaptable. They will value community participation over excellence and making what we’re doing as good as it can be.
Musical skills:
o We primarily use our grand piano during worship, so a skilled pianist is a must. A good vocalist and/or organist (we have an electric organ) is a plus.
o Able to play music from a variety of genres and traditions. Familiarity with a variety of liturgical music and worship leadership is a plus.
Schedule:
o Weekly worship on Sundays at 10:30am plus adequate preparation time.
o Availability for special seasonal worship services (i.e., Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, and Christmas Eve).
Compensation:
o $150 per week (Sunday worship and preparation time)
o $150 per special service
o Four weeks off per year
