It's Bread for the World Offering of Letters time again.
This year letters are focused on either a) global nutrition, specifically maternal and child nutrition in that precious first 1000 days of life (conception till second birthday) and /or b) summer lunches for U.S. kids and families. You can get LOTS of information on the Bread website: www.bread.org/ol
We are asking you to actively participate in this process:
1) Go to the bread.org/ol website and download the attached sample letters file.
2) Personalize your letter (once you figure out how you want to begin and end, you can copy that to your other letters). Form letters carry little weight, and may not be counted at all. Make it YOUR letter! Say why funding for nutrition is important to you.
A great option is to do a short hand-written (legible) letter, including just the most salient points.
3) Address them to Rep. Fortenberry OR Rep. Bacon... AND to Senators Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse. Don't worry about inside addresses.
Be sure you put YOUR name AND ADDRESS on them for verification that you are their constituent. Add your email if you like.
4) Print them and SIGN them.
5) Bring them to church on Sunday March 15th.
6) Put them in the BREAD for the World OFFERING of LETTERS envelope on the information tables.
7) Join in a prayer of dedication for the offering of letters sent in from our church.
I will sort, count, and deliver (or mail) all letters to each of these local/NE offices. (Mailing to the DC office slows them down too much, as they have to pass the "sniff" test.)
Your voice is powerful. You can help prevent HALF of the under age 5 deaths in poor countries, as they are related to malnutrition. And/or you can urge more funding for feeding our school kids during summers when they don't eat at school.
