Sometimes following God feels joyful and easy. Other times, it asks more of us than we expected.

This Sunday’s readings remind us that both can be true.

Jeremiah feels the weight of answering God’s call. St. Paul asks us to offer our whole lives to Him. And in the Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples plainly that following Him means taking up our cross.

And right in the middle of it all, we hear the longing of the Psalmist: “My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God.”

Maybe that’s what keeps us going. Not because faith always makes life easier, but because somewhere deep within us, we know who we are searching for.

We can praise Him in the joyful seasons and cling to Him in the difficult ones. We can lift our hands when life feels full and reach for Him when we have almost nothing left to give.

Whatever this week holds, may we keep choosing Him—trusting that the God we thirst for is already right there with us. 🤍

“Thus will I bless you while I live; lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name.” — Psalm 63:5

Today, the Church celebrates the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring Mary as Queen—not because she sought power or glory for herself, but because she gave herself completely to God.

Mary’s queenship points us always toward her Son. Her entire life was a humble and faithful “yes” to God, from the Annunciation to the foot of the Cross. And as our Blessed Mother, she continues to draw us closer to Jesus with that same maternal love.

St. Thérèse of Lisieux beautifully reminds us:

“What a joy to remember that she loves us and knows our weakness. What have we to fear?”

When we are anxious, uncertain, or painfully aware of our own weakness, may we remember that we have a Mother who knows us, loves us, and continually intercedes for us before her Son.

Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for us. 💙👑
