What if the things we call interruptions are actually divine invitations?

In Matthew 9, Jesus shows us a radically different way of moving through the world. A tax collector no one would look at. A desperate father. A woman who'd been invisible for twelve years. A child everyone had given up on. Jesus didn't see interruptions—He saw people. He didn't prioritize productivity—He practiced presence.

How many people around us are starving to be truly seen? Beyond the labels. Beyond the mistakes. Beyond the worst thing they've ever done. The Spirit of Pentecost didn't descend so we could be comfortable—it came so we could become attentive. Attentive to suffering. Attentive to hope. Attentive to the holy possibility hidden in ordinary moments.

Maybe today's interruption is tomorrow's miracle. Maybe the person disrupting your schedule is exactly where God is trying to change the world.

With frigid, below-zero temperatures expected—and the very real possibility of a winter storm bringing close to 10 inches of snow—we believe the wisest and most loving choice is for everyone to stay home and stay safe this weekend.

Coffee and Connections is cancelled for Friday, January 23rd, 2026!

Church will not gather in person this Sunday. Instead, we invite you to use the day for rest, reflection, and meditation. Brew something warm, wrap up in a blanket, and give your body and spirit permission to slow down.

We will resume our Classic TV Sermon Series next Sunday with a meaningful and timely celebration of Health and Human Services Sunday and lessons from M.A.S.H., and we will also hold our Congregational Meeting next Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Please note that the Knitting Circle, originally scheduled for this Sunday, will be postponed and will now meet on February 8, 2026.

Your safety matters. Your well-being matters. Community also means knowing when to pause and care for one another from a distance.
