It was a busy day for several of our pastors and their families today, as they attended the Illinois High School Association State Track and Field Event. The Lutherans fared quite well!

Metro-East Lutheran High School, Edwardsville had a few students, including competing in the 4x800m relay with Jack Shank, Elijah Ball, Wyatt Goeckner, Henry Reiseck (St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL ). Bryce Stewart took 19th in the Triple Jump. Dean Hemmer (Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church - Fairview Heights, IL) took 17th in the 3200. And Jack Shank (Trinity Lutheran Ministries) took 4th place in the 1600 with a time of 4.21. Jack finished his senior year and will attend Kaskaskia College on a running scholarship in the fall to study nursing.

Michael Surburg of Marion High (Good Shepherd Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Marion) placed 8th in the 2A division for discus. Michael is a senior who will be attending Aurora University in the fall, studying to be a athletic trainer.

And Landyn Mitchell (not pictured) of Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, Centralia repeated as State Champ in the 110m hurdles as well as placing Runner Up in the Triple and Long Jump.

Floor Committees for the The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod Synodical Convention are underway in St. Louis. This is a multi-day event and an important part of preparation for the Convention in July. Today the Vespers service included music from Southern Illinois' own Good Shepherd, Collinsville and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL!

The Lutheran Young Adults will now be at Three Springs Park on May 23 to play pickleball, sand volleyball, and hang out outside! Feel free to bring other outdoor activities if you would like. Join them for this great event!

Lutheran Young Adults are a gathering of working young professionals (20s-30s) who gather for fun, fellowship, and learning.
