🎒 7 Days Until Our 60th Anniversary Celebration!
Today at Montgomery UMC, we're Blessing the Backpacks as our children and young people begin another school year.
And with our 60th Anniversary just one week away, it has us thinking about generations.
Where were you in Montgomery UMC's story when you were the age of the children carrying backpacks today?
Were you here in the 1960s or 70s, growing up alongside a brand-new congregation?
Were you a child or teenager here in the 80s or 90s?
Did you raise your own children here in the 2000s?
Or are you part of the generation of families discovering Montgomery UMC today?
For sixty years, one generation has handed this church to the next.
Next Sunday we'll celebrate the people who built, served, taught, sang, gave, prayed, and loved Montgomery UMC into the church it is today.
But perhaps the most important question of our anniversary isn't simply "What did they leave for us?"
It's "What will we leave for them?" ❤️
May we leave today's children a church that is strong and faithful—a church where they know they are loved, where they learn to love their neighbors, where their questions are welcomed, and where they discover that there is a place for them in God's story.
