π Thursday, August 27 | Memorial of St. Monica
Do you have someone you love who has fallen away from the Church?
A child. A spouse. A sibling. A friend.
Today, we turn to St. Monica and ask for her powerful intercession.
St. Monica knew the heartbreak of watching those she loved stray from the faith. Her husband was a pagan, and her son, Augustine, wandered far from the Christian life she had taught him. But Monica never stopped praying. Through years of tears, patience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith, she continued to entrust them to God.
She lived to see both her husband and her son come to faith. Her son would go on to become St. Augustineβone of the greatest saints and Doctors of the Church.
For all those who carry the weight of a loved one's absence from the Church, St. Monica reminds us: never stop praying. Never lose hope. God is still at work.
St. Monica, faithful mother and woman of persistent prayer, intercede for our loved ones who have wandered from the Church. Pray that their hearts may be opened to Christ, that they may encounter His mercy, and that they may one day return home to the fullness of His Church. Amen.
π St. Monica, pray for usβand pray for those we love.
