Saints, allow me to ask you a question. The question is not for you to answer me back directly, but to provoke thought and an honest answer from you, to you, about you.

I hope to use as few words as possible because for some when they see many words they instantly shut off which prevents them from obtaining information that can help in their walk with God. So here I go!

Here, in America, we have made going to church a ritual. It is most important for us to say, I'm going to church, I've been to church, I can't miss church on Sunday and pride ourselves in saying such things but not think one time about the reason Christ started the church. Why?

Going to church is the best thing for us but why do you feel the urgency to go? Have you gotten caught up in the religious system that has much ritual but little relationship with the Lord and repentance? Are you going to meet the Lord, get refueled, strengthened, encouraged to continue in your walk or just be around other believers who are participating in the ritual? Though fellowshipping with saints is an important reason to go-coming-getting it right with the Lord is most important.

In the book of Micah, the prophet admonished people to commit themselves totally to the Lord. This meant to walk humbly with God, to forgo the worship of other gods (we do have them-just think about it) and to forgo anything that might become a source of confidence for the believer other than the Lord-getting their lives in order as believers.

Think about it? Why are you going to church? What is your purpose?

For the people of God everywhere.

Happy New Year!

Its been a while since I've connected with you all. I have been extremely busy doing the work of the ministry of the body of Christ.

Today, as I pondered on the wonderful word of God, here's what the Holy Spirit spoke to me. And I share this word with you.

All of us have said at some point, this is a new year, things are going to be different. I'm expecting God to... Some made new resolutions with new vision and purpose. And no doubt, many prayers were spoken to the LORD God in regards to what you would like for Him to do in your life and things you want, material and spiritual, in this new year. Guess what, God hears your prayers and desire to move and work in your life, answering your prayers in your favor. However, there's something that is required of you. You must STOP living in your past. Your past is holding you right there, in the past! You've become stagnant. Not moving. Stuck. Many of us say we want to move forward but is holding on to last year's grievances, hurts, and unforgiveness. You have refused to let last year and the year before, go. You want to receive new years blessings while bringing that old stuff into the new year. You want to carry it over. It's not going to happen! Let last year stay in last year and receive the new advancements, promotions, blessings (whatever that looks like) and freedoms that come with being renewed and made new. Let it go!

Paul says it like this in Philippians 3:13-14: Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Let us do this. Let it go.

Paul's spiritual life is the same as ours. He learned how to not look back to past steps, sins, grievances, etc. (you know he thought about it) but focused on improving each step in his race until reaching the goal of being with Christ.

Saints, we can learn from the past, but we are not to be bound to the things of the past.

Pray. Process. Then make up your minds to let it go.

Think on this: If we want to know the truth about anything, we must turn to the Bible. "Truth is what God says about a thing." If what we say and the way we live is not aligning with what God has said, then we are not living in truth!

Title: Perfecting Home and Work Relationships
Scriptures: Colossians 3:18-4:1

Introduction: The family is the foundational institution of humanity ordained by God. In accordance with the theme of Colossians-maturity in Christ-Paul exhorted believers to become mature in their family/work relationships. The Colossian family would usually consist of father, mother, children, and servants, much like homes today. Here, Paul addresses three sets of household relationships: (1) husbands and wives, (2) parents and children, and (3) masters and slaves. In each case there is reciprocated obligation to submit in love, to obey and encourage, and to work hard and be fair. Let each of us, examine our family and work relationships. Do you relate to your husband/wife, children, employers or employees, as God intended? Are you working on it? Do you even think about it?

Title: Not Carnality, but Christlikeness

Scripture for this week's lesson: Colossians 3:1-11

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Set here means to strive for earnestly. Work hard to remain focused on the things above. Concentrate your concerns on the eternal not the temporal. Fix your eyes on what is not seen for the things that are seen are temporary and what is unseen is eternal.

Believers, in Jesus, are Christians. Christians are identified with Christ. We are Christ, followers. We have died and been raised from the dead in Christ. We have been baptized, in the name of Jesus. down with the old man, dead and buried is he/she, and up with the new man, raised up in Christ. We need not continue to revert to the same fleshly meditations of the heart, old behaviors, and have the same mindset, as if we have not accepted Jesus our Lord and Savior.

Paul, in verses 5 and 8, identify the characteristics of humans before

Jesus is accepted in their lives as Lord and Savior. In these verses humans hearts and eyes are not set on Him. Paul name the behaviors of humans before they become children of light. And if we are not careful, walking in carnality will cause these behaviors to resurface in Christians.

Vs. 5: Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to s*xual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

First, believers are to abstain from s*xual immorality. This can include premarital s*x, adultery, homos*xuality, or deviant s*xuality such as be******ty.

Second, Impurity, or spiritual uncleanness. This general sin can refer to many things, such as evil thoughts or actions.

Third, Passion, also translated as "lust, or inordinate affection." These are inappropriate cravings which distract us from the things above, and lead us to commit the sins of immorality and impurity.

Fourth, Evil desire, likely includes wanting things which are wrong, whether s*xual desires or material things.

Fifth, Covetousness, which is idolatry." Jealousy over what others have as a form of idol worship.

Vs.8: But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

First, Anger. Outbursts of uncontrolled anger are not meant to be found in the life of a Christian. Anger in and of itself is not always wrong, but it can lead to much sin. Human anger tends to pop up over issues which are not worth that emotion.

Second, Wrath. Anger is an emotion, wrath is an action. In this context, wrath suggests the idea of revenge, and is sometimes translated as "rage." Paul taught that believers ought to leave wrath to God and not seek revenge on our own terms.

Third, Malice. Desiring to harm another person. "Malice" is a broader term, referring to a general desire to see another person suffer or be harmed. We should not hope for harm to befall others.

Fourth, Slander. Slander is putting down other people or speaking evil against others. This can include insults, lies, harsh speech, or even gossip.

Fifth, Obscene talk. Speech which is or intended to be offensive, is not to be associated with the life of a believer.

Galatians 5: 16-17

I say then; walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lust against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

Let us model Christlikeness. Deny the dead man. Force the dead man to stay buried; allowing the new man to live in Christ

Title: Chose the Company you Keep

Scriptures for this week's lesson: 1 Corinthians 15: 33
Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

“Bad company” in this case undoubtedly refers to the teachers/people who were denying the truth of the resurrection and what it accomplished for our lives.

As believers, we should display the characteristics and behaviors of God because we are born again believers. We have been taught the truth about Christ. Thanks be to God for His love towards us! We witness to others from a place of love, with the expectation of winning souls for Christ. We show ourselves kind to people, will hangout with others to make a difference and go into places to reach others (all for the cause of Christ). However, there are times that believers, because we are children of God, adopt the mindset that what we do, who we hang out with (believers or unbelievers), and the moral or immoral conversations/jokes we listen to or have with others, all on a regular, does not affect our thoughts or behaviors. NOT SO! Every seed planted grows in some way. Could it be that because we are connected with God we think this could not have an effect on us? Listen, immoral does not promote holiness. Immoral is apart of your old nature. The flesh still is the flesh. And guess what, the gossip and jokes, your flesh still craves. Having moral conversations and living a moral life testifies of your belief. Don't allow any demonic influence change this.

Paul, tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, to not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

1 Peter 2:9, God says, "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Chose the right company to keep.

Title: The Risen Christ, Faith's Reality

Scriptures for this week's lesson: 1 Corinthians 15: 3b-4 : Christ died for our sins according to (that which) the scriptures (foretold). Isaiah 53:5-11

Isaiah 53:5: But He was in fact wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness (our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing); The punishment (required by God) for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed (accepted by God, healed from the damage caused by our sin, forgiven)

By reading the scriptures we discover that because of God's great love for mankind (sinful creatures) He sent His Son into the world to be the sacrifice-atonement for our sins (something we could not do for ourselves). His life and death testifies of His love for us. God not only sent Him but as the scriptures state, He willing came to earth save us from the yoke of sin, slavery to sin, death and eternal damnation in hell.

We have many reasons to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ! The risen Christ is, Faith's Reality. The risen Christ is, our Hope. The Risen Christ is, our Victory!

He is our Savior. He is our Redeemer. He is our Lord!

Title: Choosing the High Road
Matthew 6:39: But I say to you, do not resist an evil person [who insults you or violates your rights]; but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also [simply ignore insignificant insults or trivial losses and do not bother to retaliate—maintain your dignity, your self-respect, your poise].

In light of what we saw play-out on national television at the Oscars, we all have experienced some type of emotion(s) as a result. We've experienced emotions of anger, sadness, disgust, wanting revenge, shamefulness, sorrow, pity, compassion, etc.

As we know, these feelings are real and need not be legitimized by anyone outside of yourself...they are your feelings and are legit. However, its what happens when we act in an unrighteous way as a result of what we feel.

The scripture clearly states, we are to maintain our dignity, our self-respect, and our poise. However, to do this we must stick to the script, doing otherwise will cause us to join in acts of unrighteousness, bringing shame to ourselves after we come back to our right thinking (of not being influenced by the enemy). Don't let the enemy catch you off guard. Cover your post! How can our Father receive glory in this. Its happened to each of us at some time in our lives.

Should our emotions be the deciding factor for our actions? Or should God's word determine what we do? You are God's child. Follow His lead. He knows what is best for our lives. His road is the High Road, the path of righteousness. Do all you can to stay on this road (fight your flesh daily to do so) for you are His name sake (you belong to Him).

As I listened for the voice of the Holy Spirit this a.m., He gave me this word, simple but powerful, and I share it with you.

Title: The Manual

My son gave me a large copper colored Electric Pressure Cooker last year, similar to my smaller Instant Pot. However, as I started to use the Cooker I noticed I could not navigate it as the Instant Pot. Though they perform the same type of services they are different. I then went back to read the manual, the instructions given by the inventor, and for sure, as I read from the manual I was able to navigate the Cooker as intended.

Compare this practice to our lives, when situations, matters, circumstances, relationships, even ourselves are not working as they should. When we just can't seem to find the answers of how to fix/repair/or utilize life. Here it is! The answer is, go back to the manual, the BIBLE. We are God's creations. The answers for His inventions is found here. This manual gives us instructions. It tells us how to navigate or maneuver through life successfully.

Joshua 1: 8, God tells Joshua to not let the Book of the Law depart from his mouth, but to meditate on it day and night, that he may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then he will make his way prosperous, and the have good success.

Psalm 1:1-6, tells us to meditate day and night. Philippians 4:8 tells us how our thoughts should be set...things above, pure....etc.
Let us read the Bible, it is good for LIFE!

Title: The Book of Policy and Procedure
Scripture for this week's lesson: 1 Tim 4:12: Let no one look down on [you because of] your youth, but be an example and set a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in [moral] purity. AMP Bible

Integrity - the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

Nine of the Ten Commandments found in the Old Testament in Exodus 20:1–17 are repeated in the New Testament numerous times in different ways. Jesus repeats four of the Ten Commandments to the young ruler in Mark 10:17–19. The only commandment not repeated in the New Testament is the fourth one, the one about Sabbath-keeping. However, in the New Testament, Hebrews 10:25, the Apostle Paul tells us to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

When God awakens us daily He has work for us to do. There are assignments, things we must accomplish in this day for the Kingdom. This day cannot be wasted. There are places where the Holy Spirit will lead us to make deposits-plant seeds of faith into the lives of others and thereby, building us up and affirming our faith in Him. There must be progress in and for our lives and the lives of others that sets up God's next step in His plan.

In all of our assignments, both personal and for others; whether private or public, there is a standard that has been set. God's word, the BIBLE is The Book of Policy and Procedures that details how we should govern ourselves. It details how our attitudes, behaviors, and actions should be. We should submit ourselves to the authority of His word. This is the way of walking in integrity with ourselves and others. His Word is the highest authority for living.

Read and follow The Book of Policy and Procedures for governing your life. It works. Then the Author and Owner of The Book of Policy and Procedures will say one day, "I am well pleased, My good and faithful servant."
To God be the glory!
Be encouraged.

Title: Am I the Man in the Mirror?
Scripture for this week's lesson: James 1:19-27 [AMP Bible]

James 1: 23-24: For if anyone only listens to the word without obeying it, he is like a man who looks very carefully at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he immediately forgets what he looked like.

Do you pay attention to how many times you look at yourself in a mirror in the span of the hours you are awake? Are you checking to see how you look or reminding yourself of how you think you look?

1. We look at ourselves when we brush our teeth in the a.m. and p.m.
2. When getting dressed for the day
3. When passing every mirror in our homes as we prepare to leave
4. When we get in our cars
5. When stopped at a red light or sitting in traffic
6. Before getting out of the car once we make it to work
7. When we walk in the building
8. As we sit at our various places (desk) to work
9. When going into the restroom and when washing our hands (the entire time)
10. As we pass glass doors we look at our reflections
11. As we go back home we repeat the same things over and again.
Looks can be deceiving, even when looking at ourselves in a mirror.
We check our outward appearances many times a day to make sure it is acceptable to us. However, the real picture of ourselves can only be seen when it is mirrored by the word of God. Who is that man in the mirror?

He who looks carefully into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and faithfully abides by it [the Word of God], not having become a [careless] listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he will be blessed and favored by God in what he does [in his life of obedience].

If anyone thinks himself to be religious [scrupulously observant of the rituals of his faith], and does not control his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless (futile, barren).
Examine only yourself. Who are you looking at in the mirror?
