When in Springfield Abraham Lincoln and his family attended what later became the St John's Lutheran Church. The building became too expensive to maintain so the congregation built another in 1912. Lincoln's old pew the baptismal bowl where Tad Lincoln was baptized were moved to the new building. In 1983 the congregation again moved and the structure has since been demolished but many of the original windows and baptismal bowl were again moved to the new building and can be seen today.

This window, from the 1912 building, has been in the basement of the new church since 1983. The church sold off the windows to help cover the costs of a new roof. If you look at some of the windows that were moved over from the 1912 to the 1983 building you can see the same decorative framing in the glass as this window.

Beautiful antique leaded stained glass window salvaged from a church located next to the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois.
This striking panel features a classic diamond-pattern design in rich yellows, greens, blues, and luminous opalescent tones, with elegant blue scrollwork borders and red cross accents. Centered are two meaningful religious symbols: an upper pulpit with open book and a lower ornate golden emblem representing the cross or divine light.
Housed in its original dark wooden frame with hinges, the window shows lovely historic patina and texture while remaining structurally sound.
Perfect for historic restorations, unique wall art, custom furniture, or protected garden displays. A rare piece of Illinois ecclesiastical history.

Get a pew with an amazing history. $599
Founded in 1867, the South Monterey Methodist Church dedicated its permanent house of worship on November 22, 1868, on land deeded by local settlers. The modest structure cost $1,400 to complete and relied heavily on the volunteer manual labor of its early congregation. Serving as a vital spiritual and social anchor for over 150 years, the church evolved through key moments like the merging of its local German and English factions in the 1930s. Facing declining membership in the 21st century, the historic congregation officially consolidated its operations with the Hopkins United Methodist Church on January 1, 2024.
