In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. (Matthew 28:1-8, KJV)
"It is finished!"
"Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe."
"He is Risen, as He said."
"Up from the grave He arose!
"Will I see YOU in Heaven? Wishing each of you a Blessed Easter!

Good morning! We hope that you are well and joyful, on this beautiful Sunday morning.
Due to the much rain that we've received, we have cancelled Church Service until such time as the Cleaning Service is able to dry the basement of the Church, and the furnace is serviced and usable. We hope that it will be completed within the next week or so.
During this time, I encourage you to read God's Word, and pray diligently for the future. A number of folks are still homebound, and several families are coping with the Virus.
Psalm 136:1 reads "O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good; for His mercy endureth forever." The writer wanted to emphasize the mercy of the Lord, as he ended each of the verses in that chapter with this phrase, "for His mercy endureth forever."
"Giving thanks" should be the first item in the prayer of Christians. Gratitude is lacking in today's society, and a Christian should always be the first to say "thanks."
Lamentations 3:22 says that " It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not."
Remember all of the the unsaved, backslidden, ill, and those with material needs in your prayers. but above all, Be Thankful!
May the Lord bless you this day!

Good afternoon! I’m asking all of you now to read the following and humbly pray for the Lord’s protection and deliverance for our Brothers and Sisters in Afghanistan, and that many more may be delivered from the evil forces occupying that Country. Also include in your prayers our own Nation’s leadership. May the Lord bless you and your families this beautiful weekend!

"This is the day which the Lord hath made: we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24

Good morning to you! A blessed Lord's Day, whether you are worshipping in your vehicle, your recliner, bed, or otherwise. A mature, Spiritual Christian is NOT dependent on the congregating of Believers in order to worship. While fellowship is a plus, you should be able to worship where you are!

Who's holding your hand? Several circumstances have brought this question to my mind this week. Let me relate them to you, and please bear with me.

When I was a young feller, I would hold my girlfriend's hand as a way of being possessive, and telling the other guys, "back off Buster, she's mine!" Later, after we had said the "I do's" I held her hand for the expression of love and commitment that I felt for my wife. Even today, that simple gesture means so very much to her and I as we walk, whether down the drive or in the store. I'm no longer worried about the possessiveness but the hand-holding is for her and I alone. The reason has changed. It's a gesture of love and trust.

Now let me change the subject just a little.

As most of you know, I love my Air Horn. It's my way of expressing my "road rage" without being too aggressive and mean. But my CB radio also is a tool for me to express myself, and sometimes nobody knows whose expression it is!

A frustration for truck drivers, and probably for some of you who drive the freeways often, is when a truck gets in the fast lane (hammer lane to us) and doesn't go anywhere! He just takes up space! Never gets around to passing the other vehicle, just stays out there! This may last for miles! UUGGHH!!! At that point, I grab my radio mike and ask (very politely, I might add) "are you gonna pass that guy or just sit there and hold his hand?" As you can imagine, I sometimes get an impolite response, and sometimes they complete the pass. Sometimes an accusation of "hand-holding" has a negative thought attached!

The second circumstance I would relate is from talking to a dear Grandma this week. She is concerned about some medical procedures that she has to undergo this coming week. Obviously, she is very apprehensive. I shared with her the Scripture from John chapter 10, verse 28. Read that for yourself, but let me paraphrase for you.

Jesus told His Disciples, "I give unto my sheep Eternal Life, and they shall never perish, and NO one is able to pluck them from My hand!" That simple verse (one of my favorites) is Jesus saying to me "I got this!" ( I know, not good English) But: in the next verse, He assures us that His Father, who is greater than all, will never allow anyone to be removed from HIS ( the Father's) hand!

While our concerns ( and worries ) are certainly reasonable, Jesus is telling us to trust Him. He's holding our hand. Part of that "hand-holding" is to assure the other person that "I'm here if you begin to fall, I've got you."

We are a Nation of DIY'ers. (do-it-yourself'ers) My Father isn't interested in us "doing it ourselves." He has a will for us, ( Romans 12:1-2) and it is Perfect, whatever it is. We must learn to trust, more easily said than done!

Part of that trusting is "casting." I Peter 5:7 says "casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you." I can't hold hands unless I remove my hand from my pocket, and place it in her hand. I can't expect the Lord to "hold my hand" as long as I hold back in fear and distrust. I MUST commit to the relationship, if I expect to be supported and comforted during my walk with Him. ( I forgot to mention the warmth which is felt as a result of hand-holding) However, if I withdraw my hand from that relationship (take back my "casting my cares"), I lose the trust which I had while holding hands, and I regain the fear that I once gave away. I'm back where I started.

Like many of us, Grandma is concerned about tomorrow. Jesus told His Disciples in Matthew 10:29-31, (paraphrased again) "My Father knows of every sparrow that falls, and you are of more value than many sparrows." You are important to Him! He gave His Son for you, and prepared a home for you! You are everything to Him!

Ira Stanphill wrote these words, as follows:
"I don't know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day;
I don't borrow from it's sunshine, for its skies may turn to gray,
I don't worry o'er the future, for I know what Jesus said;
And today I'll walk beside Him, for He knows what is ahead.
Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know Who holds tomorrow
and I know Who holds my hand."

So; who's holding your hand?

Please keep Vern, Cleo, Tena and their families in your prayers this week.

We hope to see you soon!

As Paul Harvey used to say; Good Day!

Good morning again! Yes, again. I've done this post twice already, and lost it to "outer space." Just hit one wrong button, and it's gone! Somewhere, some alien is probably reading my previous posts, and wondering who and what wrote that stuff!
Proverbs 3:1-7 reads like this:
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
The admonishment is to "trust Him, and NOT our own understanding." I was listening to Siriux XM this week and caught several episodes of "Father Knows Best", aired before it was out on TV. Some of you may remember the radio shows. "Father knew best" even when he was WRONG! Supposedly!
There is a comparison to be made here with the Scripture. God's Word says that He really does know what's best for us! As hard as that is for us to comprehend, He admonishes us to "trust" and He will see to our direction and path. My GPS system is right about 90% of the time, but I still carry an Atlas, because the GPS is wrong 10% of the time. God is right 100% of the time, even when it doesn't look quite right to us.
It really is a test of faith to allow someone else to "take the wheel." But He can be trusted to do just that in our lives. As Cleo says, "I've read the back of the Book, and we win." And we will always win if we trust the Lord and not our own comprehension on the situations that we encounter.
One final thing. We were reading this morning from Psalm 144. Verse 3 says that "man is like a breath, His days are like a passing
shadow." (NKJV) Enjoy life. Treasure the little things, love much, speak kind words, and above all, plan for Eternity!
"Will I see you in Heaven?"

Hello again, Friends!

It's Saturday evening, and I'm posting early this week. My schedule dictates that I do this tonight, as time will be restricted tomorrow.

I hope that you had a Blessed Thanksgiving Day. Our Nation is going through much turmoil, and it's very important that we focus our eyes on the Lord and his Mercy.

In Psalm 136, verse 1, we read: O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever. "

Each verse in that chapter concludes with that profound phrase, "for His mercy endureth forever."

Verse one commands us to be thankful! It offers NO exceptions, NO alternatives, but to be thankful. NO reasons that we can invoke to not be thankful, "but you don't know my problems" or, "you don't know my situation", or, "but Lord, if you only knew what I'm going through, you'd know that I can't be thankful." We are quietly reminded that "He is good." We are gently reminded that "His mercy endureth forever."

We often argue, maybe not out loud, but within ourselves, that God seems to be good to others, but appears to "have it out for me." The writer of this chapter says we should be aware that we are treated quite well actually, because we experience God's mercy all the time. As you read through this chapter, 136, you'll see that His mercy is always at work, even during the times when the Israelites were facing their greatest challenges. Through His mercy, we are reminded of His Love and Protection.

The last few verses tell us of His memory, redemption, and provision. And reminds us once again, to give Thanks!

I talked to a friend today who told me of a decision he made several years ago. This friend is not a Christian. But he had attended many funerals, and seen loved ones die. His decision was that he would not allow situations which were beyond his control to stress him and depress him. He said "life is too short to worry about the things that I can't change. I'm going to enjoy what I have."

I realized after this conversation that, as Christians, we should have that same attitude. God's mercy is at work, and evident in our lives every day! We fail to look for it, because we're caught up in the here and now. He loves us far beyond our comprehension, provides for us when we aren't even aware of it, and has made plans for us that we haven't even yet considered! But we're so worried about tomorrow, that we fail to give thanks for today.

Maybe we need to "count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done."

Grace Bible Chapel folks: remember your prayer lists, and hold those people up in prayer, please. We'll be in touch as to when we are able to resume services.

" But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33

That's Mercy!

Good morning, Friends! It's been a while since I posted, because we had restarted Church Services in September. Alas, we are now closed once again as the Covid Virus has increased dramatically in Michigan over the last several weeks. The health and well-being of our Church Family is our first priority and concern at this time. The Deacons and I discussed the situation, prayed, and felt that the Spirit's leading is to protect the Family, the Flock. Other Churches and Pastors may not agree with this decision, but we are accountable to the Lord, not to man.

There have been recent developments in our Church Family. Many of our "Senior Christians" have been concerned about their vulnerability to the Virus and the folks who may have been exposed to it, or even be carriers of the Virus, though they are not sick at this time. This is another reason for our caution.

As many of you may know, Deacon Cleo Hopkins was recently hospitalized with chest pain. The Hospital found that he has a tumor near the heart, and lung cancer as well. He will be counseled in the future regarding treatment options. Please pray for him and Nancy.

Our future as a Country is uncertain. However, this is not the first time that the elections have not gone as many of us have prayed for and hoped for. But! God is still faithful, and still on the Throne! The questions which each Christian must answer are these: Do I trust the Lord? How strong is my faith? How powerful is my God? Do I just mouth words and prayers, or is my Christianity really deeper than that?

Much comfort is to be found in God's Word. There are daily devotional books and internet blogs that offer encouragement. But nothing compares with the real "Words from the Master!"

I'm reminded of the cheap gas that I can buy for my vehicle, but then I'm forced to buy additives to bring the octane and quality up to standard. I can buy the "cheap chips" (remember that ad?) but they still taste cheap! Or you can buy the really good spaghetti sauce (or make the scratch, garden grown variety) without having to add all the spices you would be compelled to add to the "unbranded" kind. My wife uses the kind of sauce that makes me want to speak Italian! And I'm not Italian!

I was reminded again of Psalm 121:1-8, as follows.

(A Song of degrees.) I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

3He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Songwriter Eliza Hewitt wrote a song called "Sunshine in My Soul."
Here's the first Verse and Chorus:

There is sunshine in my soul today, More glorious and bright Than glows in any earthly sky, For Jesus is my light. Chorus: O there's sunshine, (O there's sunshine in my soul,) blessed sunshine, (blessed sunshine in my soul,) When the peaceful, happy moments roll; (happy moments roll;) When Jesus shows His smiling face, There is sunshine in my soul.

How about you? Can you make "lemonade out of lemons?"

Until next time, smile and look up!
