WELCOME

ANNOUNCEMENTS

OPENING PRAYER

Lord, as we gather here this morning, in the harbor of your safety
We thank you for fellowship and family.
We ask that you strengthen us, restore us and inspire us with signs of your love. Lord, fill us with your peace so that as we journey onwards, carried forward by angels so that we would pour out your love and grace to others.
We ask that our souls catch the wind of your spirit
so that we would take your promises to all the earth. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP Let us read the call to worship together:

Leader: Come, Let us worship.

People: Teach us Your ways, O Lord, that we may walk in Your truth; give us undivided hearts to revere Your name.

Leader: We give thanks to You, O Lord our God, and we will glorify Your name forever.

People: For Your love is great towards us; …You are merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

Leader: Let us worship, let us praise, let us give thanks!

OPENING SONG: Calling All Angels (Train) - Lyrics provided below – Please feel free to sing along!

SCRIPTURE READINGS:

Hebrews 13 1-2

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

Philippians 4 6-7

Do not worry about anything. Instead, pray to God about everything. Ask him to help you with the things that you need. And thank him for his help. 7 If you do that, God will give you peace in your minds. That peace is so great that nobody can completely understand it. You will not worry or be afraid, because you belong to Christ Jesus.

GLORIA PATRI – All Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

MESSAGE: I Need a Sign – Calling All Angels Bob Stephens

OFFERING OUR GIFTS

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

CLOSING MUSIC: I Can See Clearly Now (Jonny Nash) - Lyrics provided below – Please feel free to sing along!

BENEDICTION

God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.
Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as we would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right, If we surrender to Your will,
So that we may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.

PASSING OF THE PEACE

Calling All Angels – Train

I need a sign to let me know you're here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup

When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you feel the world shake from the words that are said

And I'm calling all angels
And I'm calling all you angels

And I won't give up if you don't give up
I won't give up if you don't give up
I won't give up if you don't give up
I won't give up if you don't give up

I need a sign to let me know you're here
'Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

And I'm calling all angels
And I'm calling all you angels

When children have to play inside so they don't disappear
While private eyes solve marriage lies 'cause we don't talk for years
And football teams are kissing Queens and losing sight of having dreams
In a world that what we want is only what we want until it's ours

And I'm calling all angels
And I'm calling all you angels

And I'm (I won't give up if you don't give up)
Calling all angels (I won't give up if you don't give up)
And I'm (I won't give up if you don't give up)
Calling all you angels (I won't give up if you don't give up)

Calling all you angels (I won't give up if you don't give up)
Calling all you angels (I won't give up if you don't give up)
Calling all you angels (I won't give up if you don't give up)

I Can See Clearly Now – Johnny Nash

[Verse 1]
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day

[Verse 2]
I think I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright (Bright), bright sun shiny day

[Bridge]
Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothing but blue skies

[Verse 3]
I can see clearly now; the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day

Introit Beginning Today

*Call to Worship Ann Weems

Born in the light of the Bright and Morning Star,

we are new.

Not patched, not mended…but new

like a newborn…

like the morning…

The guilt-blotched yesterdays are gone;

the soul stains are no more!

There is no looking back;

there are no regrets.

In our newness, we are free.

In the power of God’s continuing creation,

we are:

new shoots from the root of Jesse,

new branches from the one true Vine,

new songs breaking through the world’s deafness.

This then is a new day.

New shoots, new branches,

new songs, new day…

Bathed in the promise of God’s New Creation,

we begin!

*Praying with Our Whole Selves

God, you are above (reach toward the sky),

below (touch or look at your toes),

inside (hands to heart),

and all around (big arm circles).

I worship you (reach toward the sky),

and give my life to you (touch or look at your toes).
I love you (hands to heart)

with all that I am (big arm circles).

*Hymn of Praise God, Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens #651

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, may your name be revered as holy.
May your kingdom come.
May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.
