Hallelujah, praise the Lord, everyone! Today was our "Sunday Best." Minister Earline brought a powerful message from Luke 11:28-30.
The Message:
Matthew 11:28-30, which says,
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest.
Matthew 11:29 Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Matthew 11:30 Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
NKJV:
Matthew 11:28-30, which says,
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
We know it's not all about our outward appearance. Although in the past, we wore our 'Sunday Best,' today we have another outfit to put on - our garments of praise. When we come on Sundays, we put on garments not made with human hands. Because of our relationship with God, we come full of praise. When anxieties, troubles, financial struggles, hunger, and weariness overwhelm us, what do we do? We run straight to Jesus. He is the One who will comfort, strengthen, and meet our needs. He fights our battles and gives us peace and rest. As the month of April is stress awareness, let's be intentional about being a light to others and ourselves, sharing words of comfort, joy, and peace. We don't dress to impress; we dress to relieve stress. It's not the outer garments, but rather the inner garments of our hearts. Amen.
