Calvary Baptist Church

Calvary Baptist Church Calvary Baptist Church is a family of believers who are committed to following Christ.

As a local church, we are passionate about helping people know Christ and grow in their love for Him and for others. We are about honoring and glorifying God in all our actions, words, and deeds. Our desire is to honor God by continuously applying His sufficient Word to all areas of our lives and ministry. We are convinced without any doubt that…
• The Bible is our sole inerrant authority for our

faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
• Our purpose is to always please the Lord so that our lives and ministries bring glory to God (John 8:29; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 1:10)
Therefore we seek to be obedient to the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:35-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), by making it our mission to glorify God by winning people to Jesus Christ and equipping them to be more faithful disciples. In order to accomplish our mission, we will consistently and systematically strive to transform ourselves (Romans 12:1-2), our community and our world by…
• Going - Spreading the Word (Evangelism)
• Growing - Strengthening Each Other (Discipleship)
• Serving - Serving Others (Ministry)
We are motivated by the belief that God's Word is sufficient and that people who follow its life-changing message can bring glory to God. We rejoice in the message of the cross - that people can be forgiven through the blood of Christ and restored to a personal relationship with God.

Here is a question a lot of parents are quietly wrestling with right now.
What does the Bible actually say about disciplining your kids?
Not what you grew up hearing. Not what the debate on social media says. What Scripture actually teaches — about why discipline is necessary, what it is supposed to accomplish, and what spirit it should come from.
We just published a new article that goes straight to the text. It covers everything from the Proverbs passages most people know to something in Hebrews 12 that most parenting conversations skip right past — and it might change the way you think about what discipline is actually for.

Whether you are in the thick of the hard parenting years or just trying to build a foundation before you get there, this one is worth your time.

Spend five minutes around other parents, and you will figure out pretty quickly that the word discipline is a loaded one these days. Some parents grew up in homes where correction was harsh — maybe even cruel — and they have made a quiet promise to themselves to do things differently. Others are...

Sexual Sin Isn’t Like Other Sins

Discover why Scripture treats sexual sin differently than other sins. In 1 Corinthians 6:12-18, Paul reveals that sexual immorality uniquely violates the sacred design of your body—which belongs to Christ, not to yourself. Learn what it means to flee, steward, and honor your body as God's temple....

Why does Scripture treat sexual sin differently? Explore 1 Corinthians 6:12-18 and discover your body's sacred purpose as Christ's temple. Read the post.

Better Together at the Table: Why the Lord’s Supper Demands Unity

There's a moment in every church service when the bread and cup are passed. But that moment is far more radical than routine. It's where Jesus asks us to see something we've been taught to miss: the table isn't about you alone with God. It's about all of us, together. In this study of 1 Corinthians 10–11, we explore what the table really means: unity across difference, continuity across generations, and a public proclamation of Christ's return. Discover why God doesn't want your perfection—he wants your honesty....

The Lord's Supper isn't about you alone—it's about us together. Discover why the table demands unity, challenges perfectionism, and calls us to be real with God

Nobody is born putting others first. It doesn't come naturally — and if you've spent five minutes around toddlers, you already know that. 😄
This past Sunday we talked about one word: preferring. Romans 12 says to honor others before yourself. Philippians 2 says to esteem others better than yourself.
Hard to do? Absolutely. But here's the good news — God's grace doesn't just forgive us and leave us there. It actively works in us to make us into people who can actually do this.

Let me ask you a question. When is the last time your whole family sat together — and nobody reached for a phone?
If that hit close to home, you are not alone. Parents everywhere are wrestling with this. And the Bible has a lot more to say about it than you might expect.
We just published a new blog post: Phones, Faith, and Your Family: A Biblical Approach to Screen Time. It walks through six passages of Scripture that speak directly to what screens are doing to our hearts — and our homes — and offers some practical starting points for families who want to approach this with intention.
No guilt. No lectures. Just honest, biblical guidance for parents who are doing their best in a world that moves faster than any of us can keep up with.

Stop Managing It. Scripture Says Run.

Most believers who struggle with temptation aren't trying to sin — they're trying to manage. They set limits, move the guardrails, and try to keep it at a safe distance. But Scripture doesn't prescribe management. It prescribes one word: Flee. Here's what 1 Corinthians 6 says about self-gratification, your body, and the only strategy that actually works....

If willpower keeps failing you, the strategy may be the problem. Here's what Scripture actually says about fleeing temptation — and how to do it.

New episode of After Sunday is up. 🎙️

This week, Pastor John and Andrew are talking about a single word in Romans 12 that most of us read right past — preferring. As in, "in honour preferring one another." It sounds simple. It is not. Nobody is born doing it, and you cannot get there by trying harder. This episode is an honest conversation about what it actually takes to put someone else first — and what happens to a church when people start doing it for real. Give it a listen and share it with someone who needs the encouragement this week.

Real love doesn't wait until you feel like it. It doesn't keep score. It doesn't look for recognition. Romans 12 calls it "preferring one another" — and Philippians 2 tells us why only God's grace can actually produce it. New post from the Better Together series is live. Read it here,

Real love doesn't come naturally — it's the work of grace. Discover what Romans 12 and Philippians 2 say about preferring others and why it matters for your church.

What Makes a Local Church Legitimate? Here’s What God’s Word Says

She had attended three different churches in two years. The first had great music. The second had a dynamic speaker. The third felt warm the moment she walked through the door. But sitting in her car after that third Sunday service, she called her sister and said something that stopped the conversation cold: "I still don't know if any of these places are actually a church." She wasn't being cynical. She was asking a serious question — one that more people are asking out loud right now than at any point in a generation....

How do you know if a church is the real thing? God's Word gives a clear answer in 1 Corinthians 6:11. Discover the only standard that matters.
