In late summer of 1952, a group of about 60 people, some who were just curious spectators, met together to sing, pray and hear a simple message from God’s Word in the yard of Mr. This was the first meeting of what would later become Robertson Baptist Church. first pastor. James Nance was elected as moderator, Mrs. Bernice Huddleston as Secretary-Treasurer, and the name of Robertson Baptist Church was selected. George W. Holdren gave three acres of land on which to build a church. A small building was started and the cost was about $10,000.00. GMBC adopted as its motto, “A friendly Place to Grow in Grace”. Many who have visited have given testimony to the genuine friendliness of its people. We give thanks to the LORD for all He has done here at Grace Memorial Baptist Church and we want all the glory to go to HIM, for we know that without HIM we could do nothing. [John 15:5]

All those involved here at GMBC have learned that 2 Corinthians 9:8 is absolutely true; 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: and we look forward to “every good work” that He will do in and through us till He returns for us.
