Dogs rescued from illegal fighting in Italy will soon have more support for the specialized care they need to recover.

Italy has allocated €2 million across 2026 and 2027 to help eligible animal welfare organizations cover expenses for animals seized or confiscated in connection with illegal fighting. The funding can help pay for veterinary treatment, food, daily care, behavioral evaluations and rehabilitation with animal behavior professionals.

Dogs rescued from fighting can require extensive behavioral rehabilitation in addition to medical care. By helping organizations cover those costs, the new funding is intended to strengthen their ability to care for these animals and give them the support they need moving forward. ❤️
