My friend Sue had very successful neck surgery and is at home doing well. We have started work with a church in Kenya near Nisse. We have provided Bibles and a tent for them.

Wow! I'm sitting here at 2:30 in the morning checking the news, and find out that likely Trump will retake the office. I thank God for this and pray that the nation will begin to turn around to godly values. Trump is not a perfect man, of course, but most of his policies are right on.

I am hungry for good worship.

I have been worshiping the Lord for many years, but it’s hard to find anointed worship where the Holy Spirit overwhelms me. I worship by myself, of course, but group worship is needed.

To me, here are some things that hinder true worship:

The leader is a great singer/performer, but doesn’t lead others.
The songs are on a song track with no spontaneity.
Leader is loud and dominating.
Over concern of singing the song correctly.
Interruptions during worship. When worship is flowing, it’s not time to preach a small sermon.
Too many repetitions of the same song for a long time.
Too little solid biblical basis.
Actual errors in theology in the song.
Not noticing if the congregation is actually participating.

A worship leader has a special calling and anointing. They will have to learn and grow into their calling, but there is something special.

Lately, I have been in several different churches and different settings. I enjoy singing, but rarely did I get soaked in the Spirit. During one service, I was really impacted and can still feel the touch of God.
What was noticeable?
The leader worshiped with the other singers without being loud.
They were sensitive to the Spirit.
It was at a low enough volume so I could hear myself sing.
The Spirit flowed through the whole worship team.
The church was being blessed, and you could tell the atmosphere changed.

What are some of your thoughts?

When are we like Asa?

About 900 years before Jesus came, Asa was the king of Judah.
Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of Yahweh, his God. 3 He removed the foreign altars and high places, broke down the stone pillars, and cut down the Asherahs. 4 And he commanded Judah to seek Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, and to keep the law and the commandment. 2 Ch 14:2–4.

And Asa had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah, bearing shields and spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin, who carried shields and drew bows. All of these were mighty warriors of strength. 2 Ch 14:8

Zerah the Cush*te came out against them with an army of a thousand thousands and three hundred chariots. 2 Ch 14:9.

Asa was a righteous King who, for 35 years, had either total peace or victory in battle. He did right with Yahweh, destroyed idolatry, and commanded the people to follow God’s law. Asa had a great army, but when one million warriors (Zerah the Ethiopian) were going to wage war on him, he sought God, got the victory, and captured many valuable items and animals. Even people from Israel joined Judah because he followed the Lord.

Only in his 36th year did he begin to depend on other things rather than God. He resorted to bribes using temple money. He imprisoned the prophet and killed people. He trusted physicians instead of God. It didn’t take long, and diseases ended up killing him.

So, what gives? After so many years of righteous living and instituting significant reforms, he lost his faith. How does that happen? Perhaps with so much peace, he lost his closeness to God and his sharp edge. When I read his account, it made me feel sad! It showed that we must always be diligent to follow the Lord, even if we are comfortable. Asa left a good heritage, at least, when Jehoshaphat followed after him.

In the last few years, there have been too many similar stories. Quite a few leaders and pastors have fallen. Most were well-established with great churches, and they wrote many Christian books. I wonder if that is happening all over the world.

The lesson should be obvious. We must always press into God and remain loyal to Him. We must fight the world’s influence on us.

The Gospel is Bigger than You Think

It was a pleasure and a challenge to read Anthony Delgado’s book. He tackles a tough issue, that is, the weakening of the true gospel message. The gospel is not just come down front and say a prayer. So, what is the gospel, really?

The gospel message is the underlying theme from Genesis to Revelation; it’s the ushering in of the Kingdom of God; it’s the power that changes the world. A weak gospel leads to inauthentic living. A life that has not been changed to the core is a life that never really understood the essence of what Jesus is offering. This book examines what a victorious life is like and its impact on your sin/rebellion, your family, your community, and all that your life touches.

He explores why an average Christian T-shirt can give a vague sense of identity. However, “Does their life significantly line up with the teaching of Christ and the witness of the scriptures? Further, do they have lasting faith characterized by ongoing gospel transformation? Has Christianity become their identity, or are they still trying it on?”

This book will help you understand the various themes that run through the scripture. It highlights what the spiritual battle really is and why full Kingdom living is the only full answer. So, get a copy and spend some time reading for a more in-depth understanding. It’s great for new believers and mature followers, too.

WARNING!

Do not go see Megalopolis!

I went with friends, thinking it was a science fiction movie. I watched for a while and had to leave the theater because it was so offensive. It portrayed in living Hollywood color all kinds of perversions - le***an, trans, cross-dressing, gay, nudity, plus too many to mention.

Also it was a disjointed inane story touting some kind of twisted philosophy. I literally had to get out and ask God to clear my mind.

YUCK!

Two years ago, on this date, my honey went home to Jesus!

We have been together for 51 years, and I wish we had 20 more. Nothing is quite the same, but we both had faith that we would meet later. I am no longer grieving (maybe at a low level), but life is full. I would love to share with her and discover what she has been doing as I share my life.

Thanks for all your prayers. I feel so much better today. Something like this hits me about this time of the year. I believe your prayers helped me recover faster than in the past. Thanks!

If you're interested, a lunar eclipse is taking place right now. It's about a third of the way covered. It won't go totally dark, but it'll be gray-colored when it's over.
