St.

We are part of the Anglican Church of North America, and the cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Ft. Vincent's Cathedral is a warm, friendly, and active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, in the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone, and associated with the Anglican Church in North America. The parish was founded in 1955 and has worshiped on the present site since 1989. We have serv

ed as the pro-cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth since 1995 and as the Cathedral since December 21, 2007. We provide traditional Anglican values in both our view of ministry and in our liturgical and pastoral style. We worship in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, using The Book of Common Prayer (1979) and The Hymnal 1982. We are an affiliate parish of the American Anglican Council (AAC), a network of individuals, parishes, and specialized ministries who affirm Biblical authority and Christian orthodoxy within the Anglican Communion. The Cathedral Parish of St. Vincent was the site of the Inaugural Assembly of the Anglican Church in North America from June 22-25, 2009. On June 23, 2009, the Anglican Church in North America was officially constituted at St. Vincent's Cathedral, Bedford, Texas.

This past Sunday, Fr. Mark preached on Matthew 16:21-27, and briefly on Romans 12:1-2. He encouraged us each morning, to sit, breathe, and say this (from St. Augustine's Prayer Book):

"Remember, Christian soul, that you have this day, and every day of your life, God to glorify. Jesus to imitate. A soul to save. A body to mortify. Sins to repent of. Virtues to acquire. Hell to avoid. Heaven to gain. Eternity to prepare for. Time to profit by. Neighbors to edify. The world to despise. Devils to combat. Passions to subdue. Death, perhaps, to suffer. Judgment to undergo."

Today and this Sunday:

Today we celebrate St. Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, and perhaps the greatest theologian in the history of Western Christianity. St. Augustine wrote countless treatises, letters, and sermons providing great sources of the truth, goodness and beauty of Christian orthodoxy. From his spiritual autobiography, he writes, "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you."

Today is also the 90th birthday of Polly Post - longtime member of St. Vincent's and dear sister in Christ. Thank you to everyone who wrote cards for her this past two weeks - happy birthday, Polly!

This Sunday at 5pm is our Dinner Groups Kickoff - a wonderful ministry of monthly dinners (or lunches) for a time of food and fellowship. We hope you can join us this Sunday at 5pm in the Parish Hall as we kickoff the fall semester.

Also this Sunday at 6pm is our renewed College and Young Adult ministry - Parish and Pub. We will meet at 6pm in St. Mary's chapel, and then Seabury Hall for teaching and discussion.

Happy Friday, everyone!

This past Sunday, Fr. Mark preached on Peter's Confession (Matthew 16:13-20). Jesus asks, "Who do you say that I am?" - a question that invites and challenges a life-changing response.

These pictures are where the disciples were - Caesarea Philippi, taken from a pilgrimage to Israel in 2020. Notice the "rocky" cliff, the Jordan River, the shrines to pagan gods, and the cave - "the gate to the underworld."
