Jesus is⌠December 14, 2025
Read Isaiah 9:6: Inspired by God, Isaiah tells us just Who the Messiah is, and why He is crucial to our lives. He is:
Wonderful. When He did His many miracles, âThe people wonderedâ (Luke 11:14). When He healed the man whose friends lowered him down through the ceiling, scripture says, âAnd they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, âWe have seen strange things todayâ (Luke 5:26). The definition of wonder is, âa feeling of amazement and admiration, caused by something beautiful, remarkable, or unfamiliarâ. Jesusâ actions caused people to wonder, which caused many to re-evaluate their lives and come to salvation that is only obtainable through Him. It also defines as, âhaving remarkable properties or abilitiesâ which Jesus definitely did. Jesus is wonderful; He causes those who experience Him to be âfull of wonderâ.
Counselor. What does a counselor do? They counsel or advise others of the best course of action. When Jesus taught, He advised. The people said, âNo one ever spoke the way this man doesâ (John 7:46). And in Revelation, the letters to the churches were full of advice. In Revelation 3, when He wrote to the church at Sardis (and to us), He said, âSo then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth. Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repentâ.
God. Jesus is God; as are the Father and the Spirit, âFor there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are oneâ (1 John 5:7-9). âIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was Godâ (John 1:1). âAnd the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truthâ (John 1:17). Still separate, but one God: John 17:20-23, â Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent meâ.
Mighty Everlasting Father. As a father begets children, âAll things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of menâ (John 1:3-4).
The Prince of Peace. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). And, in Matthew 1:21, we call Him
Savior, âShe will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sinsâ.
