🙏🏻 UPDATE 🙏🏻
The Summit would like to announce that we are changing our name to….
Disciples of Christ!
This is something we have prayed about and feel like God has called us to do. Since we have started in September 2020, we have a clear direction of our group.
We have changed the demographic to ages 18-35, single, dating, engaged, married, etc. ANYONE is welcome in this age group!
Our group focuses mainly on studying the Bible. There are times where we have planned our lessons but the majority of the time what we do when we meet is quite simple… we read the Bible and discuss it!
We do this for many reasons. Some being that we are an adult group. We want to see how the Holy Spirit moves in each individual and we encourage each individual to bring that to the table when we discuss the Bible. One person may interpret things differently than the next and this helps us get a good perspective on the word and what God tells us through His word.
The Great Commission Matthew 28:16-20 says to go and make disciples of many nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
As the leader of The Summit this has always been my mission. To make sure they know Christ and to share the gospel. We have a sign that hangs in our room that says, “To know Christ and make Him known”. AKA make DISCIPLES!
It is very clear to me that He has been pointing our group in this direction for a long time. We are not a youth group, we do not operate as a youth group. While we like to have fun, our main goal is to know the Bible, know Christ, and share the gospel! So our name had to reflect who we are. Which is Disciples of Christ! 🙏🏻
I am challenging my group to share the gospel more and more and we are teaching them how to do that in their families, their jobs, and even with strangers.
We are very excited for this name change. We know it is what God has called us to do.
Our verse has remained the same. Acts 20:24 “But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
Our mission will always be knowing Jesus, knowing the gospel, and learning how to apply it to our lives. We thank you for all of your support. Keep praying for us! 🤍🙏🏻
