My son, Justin & took a trip yesterday, in behalf of the Bedford 1st Church of God "Go Ye Mission Endeavor", to David, KY. This was in the SE area of the state, that was hit by severe flooding, back in July.
We delivered lots of clothing, some food, over 20 cases of water, cleaning items, hygiene supplies, Bibles, money donations, etc. to the St. Vincent's Mission.
They minister to the many needy of this impoverished region one the country. We got to tour the facility (Thrift Shop, Food Pantry, Training area, supply warehouse, Maintenance Shop, garden area, etc.)
They were so kind to put us up, one night's stay in the Volunteer House & allwed us to borrow the Compound vehicle last eve to drive into Prestonburg, KY, for supper.
I got to talk directly & pray with a lady that has experienced numerous losses in her life, in the recent past: including the passing of her husband, su***de of a relative following the flooding, many neighbors around here losing their homes, or succumbing to drownings;as well as the total destruction of her home. To top that off, she's also battling with cancer. Fortunately, she's qualified for the government program that allowed a group from New Jersey to come down help build her a new home. However, thousands of people are still trying to rebuild from their losses. We blessed her with little cash donation to help her in the process of rebuilding her life. She's been staying at the Mission House, until she gets back on her feet.
This morning we got up bright and early to unload our trailer, and to donate supplies to this mission. They had a group of lady volunteers that assisted us. Before we left, we had prayer with them and said our goodbyes.
Thanks to Sister Kathryn Weigand & Erin Bottomless for letting us come down & partner with them.
We may come down again & bring a team with us next time.
