The First Church of the Nazarene was established in 1938, in Beckley, West Virginia. Property was purchased on Johnstown Road and Jennings Street for the building of our church and services were conducted in the basement for several years until our sanctuary was completed in 1956. In the 1970's, four additional classrooms and a fellowship hall was added. As years passed, the congregation was able

to purchase more property and in 2003, a new Family Life Center was built. This new building has allowed us to reach out to the community and surrounding area in a very positive way. In 2011, the church was blessed to be offered a house on the right side of our property which was then purchased and after extensive remodeling, (performed mainly by the men in our congregation ) turned into a new parsonage for our parsonage family. They were able to move in on November of 2012.

Tomorrow is the first Sunday of September
-why not make a simple decision to be in church EVERY SUNDAY THIS MONTH?

Start the month in God's house, with God's people, and give Him the first place in your week.

One Sunday at a time. One month of choosing to be present.
Let's make September count!

On Thursday, we were reminded to keep in step with the Spirit and to be intentional about the choices we make. Today, we're reminded of what helps us do that: letting God's Word fill our hearts and guide our lives.

What we allow to dwell in us will eventually show up in how we live.

So let's fill our hearts with His Word, follow His Spirit, and let our lives reflect Christ.

We'd love to worship with you this Sunday! Come join us as we gather together, open God's Word, and give Him glory.

What are you sowing?

Every day, we are planting something. Our words, our attitudes, our choices, our time, and what we allow to fill our hearts are all seeds.

And sometimes, sowing to the Spirit means exercising self-control and making the right choice when the wrong choice would be easier.

We have to be willing to stop and test ourselves:

Is this choice pleasing my flesh, or is it pleasing the Spirit?
Is this attitude producing the fruit of the Spirit?
Am I choosing love, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control—or am I feeding something that will produce a harvest I don’t want?

Following Christ isn’t just about the big decisions. It’s about the daily choosing—choosing what we watch, what we say, how we respond, what we dwell on, how we treat people, and whether we will surrender our desires to God’s will.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

So today, let’s examine what we’re sowing.

Let’s choose wisely. Let’s practice self-control. Let’s keep in step with the Spirit. And even when we don’t see the harvest yet, let’s not grow weary in doing what is right.

It’s OK to Get Real with God.

Sometimes we feel like we have to have the right words, the right attitude, or everything figured out before we come to God.

But the truth is—we don’t.

God already knows what’s going on in our hearts. He knows the hurt, the frustration, the questions, the fear, and even the things we don’t know how to put into words.

We can come to Him just as we are. We can be honest with God. We can get real with God.

And when we do, we discover that He isn’t waiting to condemn us—He is there to meet us, listen to us, and lead us.

What a good reminder from Pastor Chris last Sunday:
Don’t hide your heart from God. Bring it to Him.

The first of the “-ber” months is here! September, October, November, and December are ahead—and what a beautiful reminder that God is faithful in every season of our lives.

September feels like a fresh start—a time to settle back into the rhythm of church, worship, fellowship, and serving. As the seasons change around us, may our commitment to Christ only grow stronger.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

We’re looking forward to all God has in store for us in the months ahead!

Solitude with God- step away from the noise, not simply to find ourselves, but to find more of God- more of His presence, His Word, His Wisdom, and His character.

"Be still, and know that I am God."
- Psalm 46:10

Take time to get alone and quiet before God. You may be surprised by what He adds to your life.
