We are joining in on the 250th birthday fun! Join us Sunday, July 5th at 10:15 for Holy Communion in the 70s style. 1770's style, that is! From the speech to the hymns, we will roll back time to see what it might have been like in 1776. And, to make it more fun, you are invited to pick a decade from the past 250 years and dress in that style. From powdered wigs to bell-bottoms. Leather jacks to top hats. Bring a friend!

If you have ever given thought about placing flowers at the altar, there are several open Sundays available for you to give it a try. The next available spot is July 26th. You may sign up on the altar flower chart in the narthex, or give Sara a call at 570-658-2001. Cost is $55 for both altar vases.

In the Gospel reading for this coming Sunday, Jesus says several surprising things: that he has come to bring, not peace, but a sword; and that followers must love him more than they love their own family members. Come to worship to meditate on what these sayings might mean, and at the altar, be strengthened to live the surprising life of the Christian.

The community is invited to enjoy the summer weather Friday, July 17th beginning at 6pm. Join the fun at Beaver Lutheran Church, located between Beavertown and Beaver Springs, on Route 522. Enjoy yard games, and the return of "Camp Beaver's" Slip-n-Slide!! A summer camp favorite! There will also be food and drinks available, plus ... HOMEMADE ICE CREAM! Remember -- if you are planning on braving the slide, wear something appropriate and bring your own towel. (Please remember that you are invited to participate in the slip-n-slide, as well as other activities, at your own risk. And, parents are reminded to supervise their own children. Thank you.)
