NEXUS CHURCH PIE AND DESSERT AUCTION 2026🥧🍰

Thank you for baking, laughing, and buying in support of our dessert auction and pie-a-pastor fundraiser for Nazarene Youth Conference in Eurasia. We are grateful for your generosity!

We also learned that Pastor Jaron has big hair and a red suit and Pastor Jordan is a good sport.

On Easter Sunday, the symbols of death and violence were removed from the cross. In their place were signs of light and life that pointed to Christ’s resurrection. We remember together that in Jesus there is victory over death and freedom from sin. As recipients of this mercy, Jesus invites us to once and for all lay down the tools of violence that once marked the cross and walk in the ways of love, peace, and forgiveness.

Let us live in the hope of the resurrection!

As we walk through Holy Week, we remember the palm branches waived in Jerusalem and the ones we laid at the cross on Sunday. The crowd shouting, “Hosanna!” expected to be saved by a conquering hero. We confess that we too love parades of power; we too prefer conquering heroes. Jesus shows us another way.
Lord, have mercy.

We continue our walk through the fifth week of Lent by placing a sign on the cross that proclaims, “This is Jesus, King of the Jews.”  Such signs were intended to list the crimes for which the crucified were condemned. Rather than condemning, this sign testifies to truth. We confess we miss the truth of Your Identity, and of our own.
Lord, have mercy.

On the fourth Sunday of Lent, we hung nails on the cross as a reminder that we took nails meant for construction, and used them to kill our Messiah. We believed the nails were necessary to keep Jesus on the cross. Yet, the reality is that You endured the cross out of love.
Lord, have mercy.

As we walk through the week after the third Sunday of Lent, we remember that the whip we’ve hung on the cross is a symbol of our misuse of power. In our world, the powerful take control by force, Jesus teaches us another way.
Lord, have mercy

We’re walking together through the season of Lent. On this second week, we’ve hung the crown of thorns on the cross as a symbol of our desire for peace through conquest. Jesus teaches us another way.
Lord, have mercy.

We’re walking together through the season of Lent. On this first week, we’ve hung coins on the cross as a symbol of our tendency to blame Judas and excuse ourselves.
Lord, have mercy.
