An overarching theme of the 12th chapter of Luke's gospel is repentance, and if you grew up with traditional Christian theology like I did, repentance may be a word that makes you cringe just a little bit.

Here's the thing, though, about repentance. Jesus didn't intend to evoke shame. He intended to inspire challenge and growth. Not to blame, but to turn. Not to shame, but to liberate is what Jesus meant by repentance.
