GOOD SUNDAY (the last day of May already!) MORNING FAITH CHRISTIAN CHURCH & FRIENDS!! "I will draw my strength from Jesus, As I lay upon His breast" - Lawson & Quicksilver. Each time we look into the Lord's Bible, each time we come into His presence to worship and praise Him we DO receive strength: TIME FOR CHURCH - Heavenly Father, dear Savior Jesus Christ, we come to You now with a gladness only You can provide, gladness that we can freely worship You as You would have us to. Please illuminate our minds that our hearts may receive Your message, that it may draw us ever closer to Thy perfect will. In Thy name we pray, AMEN!
"Confronting the Wilderness"
*Matthew 4:1; Luke 4:14*
The American Heritage Dictionary lists this as one of the definitions of Wilderness: "Something likened to a wild region in a bewildering vastness, perilousness or unchecked profusion". I think we can agree we've all been in such a place of confusion many a time, any difference being the Born-Again Christian has a personal relationship with Almighty God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to give us sense, stability and strength with each confrontation: GOD'S GOT THIS. AMEN!
Christ also found Himself in a wilderness of confrontation, and contention, many times throughout His ministry as *V.1* of our Scripture focus points out. Notice that our Savior didn't stumble into the wilderness but "was led by the Spirit". Why? Because the temptation from 'The Satanic Ifs' *Luke 4:3,7,9* was a necessary part of the preparation Jesus needed for His ministry/mission to come. We can reason, therefore, the Born-Again Christian is also led by the Spirit with each such confrontation we experience and for the same reason: GOD HAS A PLAN. AMEN!
"Why me, Lord?" is a familiar response to hardship, confusion, bewilderment and attacks by the Tempter - Wilderness Walking - as a part of the frailty of human nature but an even greater response for the Redeemed nature is to rely on the fact Almighty God's individual plan for each of us is one of success, conquering and profound reward. Come what may, we can take it because the Holy Spirit is within us *I John 4:4* just as it was within Christ. AMEN
Once redeemed through Christ's salvation, His blood brings strength and a blessed assurance that helps us overcome the confrontational wildernesses of this world. It's a shame those without Christ in their hearts can't attest to this truth especially when they see the promised result they're missing out on that *V.14* of our Scripture focus declares: "And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit". That same power infuses itself in us too every time we step into the wilderness because we are "Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod, for I'm part of the family, the family of God" - Wm. J. Gaither. If the Spirit leads you into the wilderness, It'll lead you out of it. AMEN
"'Tis the grandest theme thro' the ages rung; 'Tis the grandest theme for a mortal tongue; 'Tis the grandest theme that the world e'er sung, 'Our God is able to deliver thee'" - W.A. Ogden.
The power of the Holy Spirit comes with that step of faith called salvation upon asking for forgiveness of sins and accepting Christ as your personal Savior. You will find more power than you ever dreamed, making the wilderness so much easier to confront...and conquer.
And you can learn all about that and more with us each Sunday morning, 9:30, at Faith Christian Church in Beaver, Ohio where that very Holy Spirit always reigns and rules; all are so very welcome.
Until then, may the power from the nail-scarred hand of the Savior who did indeed conquer the wilderness for you lead you through this new month of June, helping you all to "Stay safe! Stay strong...and PEACHY! Stay the course!" Love and Prayers, Pastor Brian.
