Today was a special day at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, Pa. as we honored our new pastor on this Pastor Appreciation Day, Rev. Dr. David Oyler. Pastor Oyler is a native of Erie, having recently retired from full time to part time. Pastor Oyler and wife Becky, are now residing in Cranberry Township, and they are very happy to be close to children and grandchildren. We all at FPC-BF are so grateful and Blessed to have such a caring, compassionate, humble man, bringing his leadership and so much more to our church. On this special day we “Thank You” and pray that you and Becky have many years with us at FPC.

Even though we can’t be in our respected Sanctuary’s on this Maundy Thursday, let us all reflect on the celebration that would have take place there, and remember with sadness what will take place on Good Friday at 12:00 o’clock.🙏🏻

Sunday, December 1, 2019, is the first Sunday of Advent. We would like to welcome you to join us in our 11:00 a.m. worship service at First Presbyterian Church 1108 8th Ave. Beaver Falls, as we celebrate communion and the lighting of the Advent Wreath as we begin the Advent Season. The first candle we light is HOPE!!

We also welcome to our Pulpit, Rev. David Oyler. He serves as Temporary Executive for Beaver-Butler Presbytery currently, although he and his wife live in Erie County where he also continues to serve as General Presbyter for Lake Erie.

“2019 ADVENT LITURGIST”
In the ancient world, various peoples lit fires to mark the turning of the light into winter’s season and to pray for the return of the light. The church has Christianized that practice in the lighting of the Advent Wreath. To us, these candles are signs of the growing light of Christ who is coming again in all fullness into the darkness of our world. Until the dawning of that Great Day, we watch and wait in Holy Spirit for Christ’s coming into the darkness of our world, lighting candles of hope, peace, joy, and love; and remembering the promises of God with.
