Told Y'all the one form of music that should never have been commercialized is worship music.
CHRISTIAN ARTIST WALKED AWAY FROM WORSHIP MUSIC… OVER “RAMPANT SIN”
Cory Asbury says he stepped away from the Christian music industry after becoming disturbed by what he was seeing behind the scenes.
“Honestly, the sin in it was rampant… the biggest names, stuff that you would never wanna see. I was seeing it,” he said.
He also described the industry as “dirty” and said the commercialization of worship music left him disillusioned.
“It felt like Ezekiel’s temple… I just ran,” Asbury said. “I ran away as far as I could.”
He even pivoted to country music and nearly released a full album.
But then everything changed.
Asbury says he felt God calling him back — and realized he had been “running from [his] calling.”
So he walked away from that path… and returned to worship music.
It’s a side of the industry most people never see.
