Our girls enjoyed handing out fruit baskets today in the community. We are blessed beyond measure to have a savior born of a virgin to come and save us from our sins. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Christ's Intercessory Prayer.
John 17: 11-16

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled. 13 And now come I to thee and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them thy word and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

I don’t know how anyone can read this passage and not have tears in their eyes. I teared up reading it in Sunday school. As Jesus prayed for his disciples to be protected from the evil of this world is a love that no other can offer. Better than any riches this world can offer. We are absolutely BLESSED to have a Savior who loves us this much!!

Have you ever wondered why God chose a Pearl for the Gates of Heaven? Think about all the trauma the mollusk or oyster goes through to produce something so beautiful. Such beauty comes from something so traumatic. Now think about all the agonizing pain Jesus Christ suffered to make our lives spotless white. He suffered so that we may have our names written in the Lambs Book of Life. His Blood has repeatedly covered our sins time and time again and will continue to cover us. All we have to do is confess our sins, ask for forgiveness and repent. We are to strive to live Holy. Without his suffering, none of us will NEVER see those Pearly Gates. Jesus Christ is the one and only way to make it through those Gates. And all 12 Gates are made from ONE Pearl!!! This is a representation of His suffering to protect us. There is NO Better Love Than That!!! DON’T WE SERVE AN AMAZING GOD!!

* When a parasite or other small intruder gets inside a mollusk, the mollusk defends itself by coating the irritant with layers of nacre, which is also known as mother-of-pearl.
* This process is repeated over time, and the layers of nacre build up around the irritant to form a pearl.
* Naturally occurring pearls are very rare.

Rev 21:21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent.

John 19:15-27

Rome used the cross as a brutal method for executing criminals. But through Jesus’ sacrificial act, its message became one of hope and life for those who believe in Him.

The cross meant various things to people in the Gospels. To Pilate, it was where an innocent man died. The religious leaders saw the cross as the way to eliminate a problem—with the rabbi gone, they assumed their position and authority were safe. When Judas Iscariot heard Jesus was condemned to die, he was greatly distressed and committed su***de. (Some Bible scholars believe Judas thought his betrayal would force Jesus to declare His kingdom and then Judas would take a powerful position in it.)

In that culture, the cross represented shameful crime. Knowing the perfection of her child’s life and His identity as the Son of God, Mary knew the brutal punishment was undeserved. She also no doubt saw it as fulfillment of prophecy. (See Luke 2:34-35.)

To Jesus’ disciples, the crucifixion was the time when their beloved friend and Messiah died. Their close relationship with Jesus seemed to end.

What does the cross mean to you? Is it the place where a good man lost his life, a troublemaker was eliminated, or the Son of God died to save you?
