Indeed Nothing:

Romans 8:39
"Isn't it refreshing to know that we can always count on God to love us? Even when we are unable to love ourselves, God will. How freeing it is to know that you can be in a relationship with God where nothing you can do, say, or think will ever halt His burning love for you. Rest in God's love."

Live Properly:
Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. (NLT) -1 Peter 2:12

It happens. At one time or another, you get too much change back. It is in these moments where our character gets put to the test. If we live honorably, we don't have to worry or feel guilty. Even further, we prove to be an exception to the rule for those around us when we do the right thing. We become a walking witness to others through our actions. Who knows, maybe it will even open up opportunity for a powerful conversation.

Measuring Life:
Then Jesus said, "Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own." (NLT) -Luke 12:15

Greed is so difficult to identify in ourselves, yet so easy to call out in others. This verse is most powerful when we apply it to our own selves. When you feel an impulsive thought to take advantage of a situation for your gain, take a moment. Think through your actions thoroughly and look at who loses with your gain. Will your action bring you closer to God or further away from depending on Him?

Absolutely Nothing:
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. (NLT) -Romans 8:38-39

Nothing in the whole universe, in the whole compass of created beings shall be able to separate any of the people of God from his love! God is with you in every season of life. You are never alone! Don’t let the Devil deceive you into thinking you are forgotten. You are HIS. Loved, chosen, and secure!

Jesus is Lord of All

Reflection:
The person who made the idol never stops to reflect, “Why, it’s just a block of wood! I burned half of it for heat and used it to bake my bread and roast my meat. How can the rest of it be a god? Should I bow down to worship a piece of wood?” (NLT) -Isaiah 44:19

God explains to His people how silly it is for them to put their hope into a man made idol. He admonishes them for not reflecting on what they are doing. Why would a wood figure made by hand be able to offer salvation? How many things do we put our trust in just because someone else tells us this is a sure thing? We have to use our ability to reason to help us find truth for our lives.

Didn't Love:
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn't love others, I would be nothing. (NLT) -1 Corinthians 13:2

We often think if only I were more witty, if I had more intelligence, if I were more attractive, my life would be much different. If we actually matched our ideal qualities but failed to grow a love for others, it would all be pointless. Paul even says if he had all the faith in the world, he would be nothing if he didn't love others. Do you spend more time thinking about self-improvement or on growing your love for others more?

Power of God:
“Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him." (NLT) -John 9:2-3

It's a common belief that people suffer as a way of punishment for their sins. Yet, Jesus used the blind man's disability to glorify God, not to punish him because of his own or his parents' sins. Could the same apply to our suffering? We can view our suffering as an offering to God. It helps to strengthen our faith, teach others about faith, and bring glory to God. When you are low and struggling in your suffering, ask God to show you His perspective.

Actions:
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. (NLT) -1 John 3:18

Our faith inspires us to act! Christianity is not a dead faith. It is alive and when we come to know the creator of our souls God starts to stir our hearts towards action. This action looks like being a part of bringing a bit of Heaven down to Earth. What faith filled action steps has God laid on your heart? How can you begin to be obedient in following his lead today?

Partiality:
Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes. (NLT) -2 Chronicles 19:7

Have you ever found yourself caught between two fighting people? Each has their side of the story which they think is right but yet you know the truth lies somewhere between the two stories. Take the road that leads to integrity. Don't choose sides but instead find ways to push grace in the conversation.
