We will be having mass at the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church at 9:30 AM tomorrow (& until December 10).

Construction has begun on our new Queen of All Saints Church but it will not be finished until December 2022.

We are planning a grand reopening mass on December 10. The bishop will be attending to bless the church.

We have not sent an update in awhile because not much has changed. Our store is still open on Thursdays and Saturdays. We are still in the process of searching for a contractor for the church. Hopefully, construction on the rectory will begin soon.
A new pastor is to arrive on July first. The old one was summoned to Frankfort.

In short, it has been four whole months since the flood and we still have a lot of work to do. Our temporary office is functioning as best it can. We lost wifi, and since we have a wifi phone we lost phone service as well, for the last few days.
Please continue to be patient with us as we struggle to get back on our feet. We are not able to respond to emails, phone messages or facebook messages quickly, so if you need something fast, look elsewhere.

We request prayers for strength and endurance during our recovery.

FEMA HELP IS STILL AVAILABLE. FEMA will be in town, do not know where exactly, on June 16-18 to assist with paperwork for individual flood relief assistance. In other words, FEMA will help you get through the red tape that pervades the federal government of this great nation. Check the county facebook and local newspapers for the exact location.
1.438 Million dollars in American Relief Funding should become available on July 1st. What this means I am not sure, but I hope some of it finds its way into my pocket.

Acceptance of bids for rebuilding the church and rectory should finish next week. Perhaps actual work will begin soon.

The removal of asbestos in the church will begin today or tomorrow. The warehouse remains open, however our hours vary peoples availability. We hope to have our telephone restored soon so we you can call to verify when the warehouse is open to pick up items for your new home, baby necessities and even food for your dog or cat.
These items come from fellow Kentuckians who wish to help those who were displaced from their homes. Please do not ask for things unless it was lost in the flood. This is a time to place the needs of the less fortunate ahead of our own needs and selfish desires. Let us not forget that we are all children of our heavenly Father and we are expected to act like it.

We have a temporary office finally. It is not on site, but very close. Our warehouse will be open to give out stuff to flood victims, Mo - Sa 10-4.
Currently, our inventory consists of bottled water, dog food, cleaning supplies, diapers and baby formula, pillows, twin sheets, various microwave meals and snacks, personal hygiene items and cookware and dinnerware sets.

Cleanup of the church has been slowed to a crawl. Our folks at Servpro seemed to have abandoned us. I am considering other options. Most of the damaged homes are dried up and looking for contractors/supplies to rebuild so they will be searching for some of that donation money that has been pouring in to various organizations. I would recommend sending money to Catholic Relief Services or to our parish if you desire to help our parish directly.
I hope everyone has taken advantage of these opportunities that God has given us to help our neighbors. He has made this Lent easier to focus on others instead of ourselves, just like he does.

Supplies were delivered to our warehouse yesterday. Let's see, we got diapers, formula, juice boxes and oh yes, applesauce. We got the Mott's!
We also have too much bottled water, personal hygiene items, pillows, sheets, and...dog food. Lots and lots of dog food. So if your baby is hungry or smelly or your dog is eyeing you up as if you are a pork chop, you need to get a hold of us cuz we can take care of that for you.
We are working on "manning the store". It is more difficult because our office is off site and the church phone is in the river, but we will keep you posted.

We have found a new location to celebrate Mass. All Masses in Beattyville will be held in the Episcopal Church located on the hill behind the court house. Mass times will remain the same, 9:30.

Regarding Holy Week, the celebrations on Thursday and Friday will be held at Holy Family parish in Booneville. Both will begin at 6:00. The Easter Vigil and Mass on Easter Day will take place in Beattyville at the Episcopal Church. Mass on Easter Day will begin at 9:30. I need to look over a few things before I share the Mass time for the vigil. Please be patient...

Progress has been delayed further due to someone siphoning the fuel out of the generator that is used to power the humidifier's and blowers in the rectory and church.
Please contact the beattyville police if you have any information regarding the theft of diesel fuel from the generator at Queen of All Saints in Beattyville. Yes, you read it right, after Beattyville is devastated by a record flood, a "person" is stealing fuel from one of the many sources people have given to help put the city back together.

We may use a spare room in a building near the parish as an office. We are going to check it out this Thursday. My date to move into the temporary rectory has been pushed back. Maybe at the end of the week?

Fr. Jim Sichko will have a truck arrive Friday filled with household items, cleaning supplies and dog food (?). We will let the locals know.
This shipment should fill up our warehouse for awhile so please do not plan on dropping by to unload some stuff anytime soon.

The church and rectory are unchanged. Servpro seems to have taken the day off today. I am not impressed with Servpro out of London.

Greetings,
The removal of asbestos and lead will is scheduled to begin Wednesday. This will prolong the reconstruction efforts and will give us more time to contact a general contractor.

We have two parishioners who had water damage to their homes. Both of them are drying out now and will be ready for their rebuilds later this week. Funding for both of these houses is needed. Both had less than a foot of water and need drywall replacement, floor covering, etc. installed.
The parish is looking for an available camper/trailer to use as an office. We will not cook or sleep in it, but use it as a parish office until we can move back into the church. Please call me at 859-699-6975 if you know where we can locate one. Insurance will cover the rental cost.
