SEE EVERY SITUATION THROUGH THE LENS OF GOD’S WORD
Never let your circumstances be greater than God’s Word. Instead, focus on magnifying God’s covenant promises so they become more prominent in your heart than the problem you're facing.
The twelve spies saw the same land, the same fortified cities, and the same giants—but they did not see them through the same lens.
Ten spies focused on the giants and said:
“And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13:33 (KJV).
They magnified their enemies and diminished themselves because they lost sight of God’s covenant promise. Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants, but they viewed them through the lens of God’s Word:
“If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us… Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.” Numbers 14:8–9 (KJV).
The ten spies said, “We are grasshoppers.”
Joshua and Caleb said, “They are bread for us.”
The difference was not the size of the giants. The difference was what they magnified.
Faith does not deny that a problem exists. Faith refuses to let the problem grow in your heart more than God and His Word.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV).
Meditate on God’s Word and covenant promises until they become one with you—until they shape what you see, believe, speak, expect, and do.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night… for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8 (KJV).
Do not measure God’s Word by the size of your circumstances. Instead, measure your circumstances by the greatness, faithfulness, and power of God.
Magnify God’s Word more than your circumstances!
