Dear Redemption Church Family,

This Sunday marks a deeply meaningful moment in our journey together—it will be our final gathering as Redemption Church, a name and identity we’ve carried faithfully for the past 11 years. Through seasons of joy, challenge, growth, and grace, God has used this community to reflect His redemption in Elkton and beyond. We honor every prayer, every sermon, every act of love that has shaped who we are.

After service this Sunday, we’ll continue the celebration of God’s faithfulness with a family-style meal alongside our brothers and sisters from Elkton Bible Fellowship Church. We’ll meet at the Elkton Community Center (121 E Stockton St, Elkton, MD 21921). Please bring a dish, drink, and dessert to share as we break bread and build deeper fellowship.

Then, on Sunday, August 24th at 9:30am, we take our first step together into a new season. Both congregations will gather under a new name: One in Christ. This name reflects our shared heart, our unified mission, and the truth of Ephesians 4:4–6—that we are one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all.

We invite you to come with open hearts, ready to celebrate what God has done—and anticipate what He will do.

With gratitude and expectation,

Pastor DaQuan Gibson
On behalf of the Elders of Redemption Church

This morning, we looked at John 13:31-35, where Jesus talks about glorifying the Father through His actions, especially His crucifixion and resurrection. He also gives us a new commandment to love one another just like He loved us, which is a big deal because it’s how people will know we’re His followers. So, it’s all about God’s glory, His plan for redemption, and the importance of loving each other. Let’s live it out!

Sunday we will dive into the profound theological significance of John 12:20-36. It begins by setting the stage for a divine drama, with Jesus Christ as the main character. The passage opens with a request from some Greeks to see Jesus, symbolizing the fulfillment of God's promise to bless all nations through Abraham's offspring.

Jesus responds by revealing that His hour of sacrificial death has come, a moment of glory that will change the course of history. His death is depicted as a grain of wheat falling into the ground and dying to bear much fruit, fulfilling Old Testament sacrifices and bringing life to all who believe.

Pastor Gibson will highlight Jesus' humanity as He contemplates His impending crucifixion, yet remains resolute in fulfilling the Father's will. His crucifixion is portrayed as the judgment of the world and the casting out of Satan, drawing all people to Himself.

We will conclude with a call to walk in the light of Jesus, embracing Him as the light of the world and rejecting spiritual darkness. We will emphasize the transformative power of Christ's sacrificial love and invites believers to participate in communion, reflecting on His death and resurrection. CHRIST IS ALL!
