Hope and Resilience Journey to Israel

Rabbis Yael Dadoun and Joshua Caruso have designed a solidarity trip to Israel, Oct 28-Nov 4, 2025. Highlights of the trip: visit Kibbutz Sufa (our Kibbutz Sufa guests pictured at Mishkan Or in Summer 2024) and learn about the community’s rebuilding efforts, meet with political and cultural leaders, experience Shabbat with an Israeli Reform congregation, and explore the food, art and music of a resilient nation while building long-lasting relationships with Israelis. With bated breath and tremendous hope, we turn our hearts to our brothers and sisters in Israel who are on the brink of closing a deal for 33 hostages to come home in the next 42 days.

For 468 days, there have been children, women, and men held captive by Hamas in Gaza. Their families have deeply longed for their safe return and we, as their extended family, pray for their return home.

The announcement yesterday by President Biden and other leaders to the framework of a deal to release hostages and to ceasefire in a war that has taken a brutal toll was negotiated between Israel and Hamas, with the direct involvement of negotiators from the US, Egypt and Qatar, and we hope it results in an end to suffering and bloodshed.

Hospitals, psychologists, and families are waiting on standby to receive those loved ones with open arms. “We must receive them like survivors of the Holocaust,” Israeli news media broadcasts, “as they have survived inhumane conditions for too long.” Since October 7, 2023, Jews all over the world have prayed for the hostages to come home and return to safety. We are with them in this emotional moment and pray for a peaceful tomorrow in Israel.
