I don't know if you read "Our Daily Bread" for today, June 30th, but it struck me this morning on the power of prayer in growing our churches. Read and let the Holy Spirit guide your thoughts. My take on it is to pray and give our church back to Him, rather than trying to update our music or the way we worship, or add something new into being, or rely on another person. All we really need is a heart for God and for each member to pray, pray, pray! I don't mean to try and over-simplify matters, but remember this.
James 5:16b "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

Plus, we don't follow anyone other than Jesus Christ, not a particular preacher or teacher. Yes, we yearn to have Godly leaders, but prayer and love never fails. God honors that and will supply who and what we need, when we need it.

I Corinthians 3:9-11
9 "For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Our foundation will always be the Living Christ.

We now have a speaker for our Annual Fall Ladies Retreat, which is always the first Saturday in October. She is Katherine Barner who has a page as well as a website. She is a grief and trauma expert, as well as an author and speaker. Her acceptance was indeed a blessing and we are grateful to obtain the information and suggestion from one of our former speakers, Carmen Pate. Katherine's web site is:

This year our retreat will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from about 8:30 am until 4:00 pm. Please be praying for Katherine as she begins preparing for this speaking engagement, that the Lord God will make His will known to her regarding our time together. Pray also for those ladies He would like to be attending that He would prepare their hearts so that seeds will be planted & grow. Pray for our Retreat Team as they begin meeting in a month or two as they plan and pray together and then set out to do the actual work involved to bring this to fruition.

Thank you Baytown Community Church for all you do to further the Lord's work here. And thank you for praying for all of our ministries as we seek to love and glorify our God.

REMINDER: Mike and Tammy Riggs will be speaking at our church this Sunday, February 15th. The Riggs are missionaries in Peru! They will be doing both services, the preaching and Sunday School hour.

The Elders have decided against us having church tomorrow, January 25, 2026. It is supposed to be pretty icy and dangerous for so many of our church members, especially those who will be crossing over icy bridges in order to get there.

So please just stay home and be safe this weekend!

UPDATE AND CHANGE OF DATE: This visit by the Riggs has been postponed until February 15th. The reason is bad weather.

One of the missionary couples we support, Mike and Tammy Riggs will be here next Sunday. Mike will be speaking during both sessions on their ministry in Peru. Come and join us at 9:45 am and 11:20 am.

LADIES BIBLE CLASS will begin this Thursday, January 22nd at 9:30 am and end at 11:00 am. Our class will undertake the second part of the video series Living by the Book featuring Dr. Howard Hendricks. We will begin with step 2 and then end with step 3 using the same book we purchased in the fall.
