Today has been one of those days that makes you stop, take a deep breath, and simply say, “Thank You, God.” ❤️🙏
I’m at MD Anderson in League City today meeting with my prostate cancer doctor, and I’m so thankful to share some good news with my family and friends.
My prostate cancer is stable, and my PSA is exactly where it was three months ago. That is something I’m very grateful for.
But my doctor said something to me today that I don’t think I’ll ever forget:
“Marvin, your prostate cancer may have very well saved your life.”
Those words hit me pretty hard.
If it weren’t for the prostate cancer, I may never have gone through the testing that ultimately discovered my liver cancer. And because the liver cancer I have is aggressive, by the time symptoms began to appear, it may have been too late for me to be a candidate for a transplant.
So something I would have never chosen for myself—something I would have considered a terrible thing—may have actually been the very thing God used to give me more time.
Only God could write a story like that.
I don’t understand everything He is doing, and I certainly wouldn’t have chosen this journey. There have been some difficult days, some scary days, and plenty of moments when I’ve had questions. But through it all, God has continued to remind me that He is with me.
I am a blessed man, not because everything has been easy, but because I know Who is walking with me through it.
My Heavenly Father has carried me, strengthened me, and given me peace when I couldn’t find it on my own. I truly believe my life is in His hands, and I trust Him with whatever comes next.
Sometimes what looks like a setback may actually be part of God's protection. Sometimes we don't see the blessing until much later.
Today, I’m choosing to look back and say:
“Thank You, Lord, for loving me enough to see what I could not see.”
And to all of you who have prayed for me, checked on me, encouraged me, and lifted me up before God—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please keep praying.
I’m still on this journey, but I’m not walking it alone.
God is good. God is faithful. And I am blessed beyond measure. ❤️🙏
