I love you, Jesus. I love what you did for me and I love who you are. Your death and resurrection make me who I am. I am loved. Totally and unconditionally loved and for that I give you all my love in return. Thank you for your love in me that loves like you. May we all love like you. May we not be afraid and timid to love all at all times. It is perfect love that casts out fear. Thank you for making me able to fearlessly love. This is the only solution, the only answer.

When I say “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” when I sin…

When my kids say “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” when they sin…

Then…I am fulfilling the law.

By faith…I am claiming that I am already obedient. I am already finished. I have honored the law completely by claiming by faith that I have obeyed.

This is the privilege of being in Christ. We become like Christ when we claim we are Christ.

This is obedience.

This leads to us becoming just like Christ because faith comes by hearing. We hear us say “we are righteous.” This becomes faith that puts in us His righteousness.

The only way you can keep disobeying is if you forget to claim your righteousness.

Speak your righteousness. That is how faith will have its perfect work!

He is our good shepherd and he is speaking. We just need to trust that we hear him. He is who he says he is. We will not want. For anything. If earth has a demand, then heaven has a limitless supply. He leads us beside still waters and green pastures. It will feel like valleys of death but it’s really just shadows and how can a shadow harm you. All the enemy has is smoke and mirrors-a distortion or shadow play of what is true. We are children who get scared of the shadows of death but we need to call the works of the enemy what they are. A means to make us think death is coming to harm us when it’s only just a shadow. Just like when we were kids and scared of the shadows-we turned on the light and we believed the truth not the deception of the shadow. He leads us in paths of right standing with him no matter what sin entered or exited. Nothing changes our righteousness and claiming our righteousness leads us to paths of more righteousness for His glory and name to be known-not ours. We cannot be good but we boast in who is goodness. We aren’t afraid to sit in the presence of the enemy because we will be favored with honor, blessing and provision. We come to the table of meeting knowing we will prevail. Our cup of blessing, impartation and empowerment are ours because we run over in blessing. People who sit at the table with us get the overflow of the King’s oil and favor. We came with our empty cup and He said “I’ll fill it to overflowing while the enemy watches the favor on your life.” Surely goodness and mercy will chase us down all the days of our very long life.

We get all this because we are sheep who hear his voice!

Trouble here in the Greek is likened to compression or pressure like grapes in a press, like Jesus, who was pressed and crushed. The enemy is pressing all of us to cave. Think of it like an interrogation room where you know the truth but the facts are saying you feel pressure. The fact is you are being pressed/troubled/afflicted but the truth says you have overcome. The enemy is wanting you to confess the fact, but the Truth wants you to see Him as a person. He is in the interrogation room with you and spent 3 days there becoming your overcomer. You never have to cave to the pressure. Hold fast your confession. Stand therefore and keep standing in the whole armor of God. That belt of Truth girds your loins-it makes you steady, sure and unwavering. You are centered in Truth. 

These scriptures are basically saying “trouble will try to force you to confess the facts over the Truth, but see Jesus (Truth) who is the overcomer.” It’s not your confession that’s going to get you out of the hot seat. It’s your awareness of Christ-the blood on the doorpost-that bought your rescue and has already made you an overcomer. 

Soon you will walk out of that interrogation room just like the boys walked out of that fiery furnace not even smelling of smoke.

The pressure is in the mind. Trouble makes us feel compressed, held hostage to fear, uncertainty, pain…but then we take captive our captor and say “obey Christ.” If you are aware of His presence, the Truth as a person, then you see Him more than the facts. You can’t go wrong speaking Truth even if it’s done in doubt and fear. The Spirit of Truth is making you increasingly aware of Christ-so much that you see Him and His love more than the compounding pressure. You then begin to speak Life. This Life now in your mind-heart-mouth starts to create a way of escape. All the while, you were at peace (unbroken fellowship with Christ) and you remained an observer over the trouble trying to compress you into submission. The thoughts became captive instead of you. You were so captivated by the Savior King that your captors were held captive. 

That’s how you walk scott-free from trouble because He walked out of the tomb!

I complain before I pray. Then when I pray I complain. My prayers have sounded like adult tantrums lately. “They didn’t do right.” “They are taking advantage of me.” “Look what I’ve done.” “I do it all and no one listens or cares for ME.” Maybe Mary felt the same way. Maybe she had a lot of pride, hurt, pain and shame. But instead of barking orders and demands, she sat and listened. I wonder what prayer could be if it was me listening to truth instead of sharing my truth. This doesn’t mean I don’t get to feel. This doesn’t mean I don’t get to cry. It just means I need to make sure I don’t talk too much before I have sat down and listened. I guarantee the sit down will make situation sit down and look at Jesus. When you see it His way, your speech will look like your heart. That heart will look like Jesus. Let Jesus sit you down if you’ve been caught up in negativity, complaining, gossip, uncontrolled anger, fear, insecurity, worry and anxiety. Jesus is in the room. Sit down and listen!

Satan’s entrance caused the Holy Spirit’s exit. The decision to make a public display of giving all when they indeed withheld reveals that they wanted to be righteous without actually being righteous through the power of the Holy Spirit. Barnabas gave wholeheartedly. They wanted to be admired for their giving without actually giving with a heart that had been empowered by the Holy Spirit to give. It was just show not true inward change. They could have had the same deep desire to give all and not trust in what they kept for themselves that Barnabas had. Christ had given them the new covenant, a fulfillment of the law. If we choose to trust in the law to save us, then the law will produce in us a realization of our sin and only produce condemnation, shame, regret and utter hopelessness. Could this be why Ananias and Sapphira died? They just didn’t understand how they didn’t need to trust in themselves but in Christ who was raised from the dead. If they knew how loved they were, then the shock from their sin could have been redeemed by God’s mercy. Peter did not strike them dead but just revealed through a word of knowledge the sin that had occurred. Why didn’t the woman at the well fall down dead at the mention of her sin from Jesus? Because she was looking at Jesus. She saw her righteousness. The Samaritan woman bragged about how her sin was discovered and brought people to Jesus to believe. When Ananias and Sapphira find out they sinned, they die of shock or a broken heart. They have an instant death. The law of the letter kills. It cannot save. It can only condemn. But Christ did not come to condemn but save. Satan doesn’t want us to know this. His strategy is to tell us to sin and then when we are exposed in our sin, he wants us to feel condemned by the law for our sin. Satan comes to kill. He uses the law to do it. What a deceiver! God knows He is holy and knows He couldn’t be close to His creation without the gift of His Son. So the deceiver twists that love and condemns us. He deceives us into thinking we should die for our sin when Jesus already did that. How much we need to know the gospel! It is the only thing that saves.
