With great sadness, we share that Msgr. John C. Nosser, our beloved Fr. Jack, passed away peacefully early this evening at St. Pius X Residence for Retired Priests.

Fr. Jack served as Pastor of St. Patrick’s from 2000 to 2006 and, after returning to St. Patrick’s in 2007, remained a cherished part of our parish family as Pastor Emeritus for nearly two decades. For generations of parishioners, he was a priest, pastor, mentor, friend and faithful servant of the Lord.

We give thanks to God for Fr. Jack’s 62 years of priestly ministry and for the many ways his life and priesthood blessed the Church on Long Island and, in a special way, our parish family at St. Patrick’s.

Please pray for the repose of his soul and for all who mourn his passing.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be shared as soon as they are available.

Dear Parish Family,

I ask you to join me in praying in a special way for Msgr. John C. Nosser, our beloved Fr. Jack, who has transitioned to hospice care at St. Pius X Residence and is nearing the end of his earthly journey.

Fr. Jack has given more than six decades of his life in faithful service to Christ and his Church. Ordained a priest on May 30, 1964, at St. Agnes Cathedral by Bishop Walter P. Kellenberg, his priestly ministry has included service as secretary to Bishops Kellenberg and McGann, as a teacher and later rector of St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary, and as pastor of several parishes throughout our diocese. From 2000 until his retirement in 2006, he served as Pastor of St. Patrick’s and has remained a cherished member of our parish family as Pastor Emeritus.

Those who know Fr. Jack know his deep love for the priesthood, the Church, and the people he has been privileged to serve. Even in retirement, his priestly presence among us has been a gift. For so many years, he has celebrated the Eucharist, preached the Gospel, offered the sacraments, and accompanied generations of Catholics through some of the most important moments of their lives.

Now, as Fr. Jack approaches the completion of his earthly pilgrimage, I ask our entire parish family to surround him with prayer. The residence is not open to visitors. Let us pray that the Lord will grant him peace and comfort, strengthen those caring for him, and allow him to know the gratitude and affection of the countless people whose lives have been touched by his priesthood.

Above all, let us entrust Fr. Jack to the loving care of the Lord whom he has served so faithfully for more than sixty-two years.
