Exciting news!! The Pastor-Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce Rev. Wilson Newell as the new pastor of the First Methodist Church of Bay Minette. Wilson is a native of Mobile and a 2014 graduate of Auburn University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky, in 2020.
Wilson is presently an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church and has applied for ordination as an elder in the Global Methodist Church.
He has served as Freshman Community Director at the Auburn Wesley Foundation; Associate Youth Director at St. James UMC in Montgomery; Youth Director at 1st UMC, Andover Campus, in Lexington, Kentucky; and Youth Director at Munholland UMC in Metairie, LA. He comes to us from Dauphin Way United Methodist Church in Mobile, where he has served as Pastor of Discipleship & Missions since 2023.
Wilson is married to Olivia Newell, who is a Nurse Practitioner at the University of South Alabama Children and Women’s Hospital, and they have three daughters, ages 7, 3, and 2. Wilson and Olivia are expecting their fourth child in November. We are excited to welcome Wilson and his family to our First Methodist of Bay Minette church family.
Come and meet Wilson and his family at Morning Worship on Sunday, June 21st. His first week of work will coincide with our annual Vacation Bible School. His first day in our pulpit will be June 28th.
Members of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee will be present at Wednesday Night Supper immediately following Chapel which will be in the Fellowship Hall at 5:15 P.M. and will answer questions during the meal.
