Happy Easter!! ✝️🐣

Yesterday we hosted our second annual Spring EGGSTRAVAGANZA, and our hearts are so full. It was such a beautiful day celebrating community, family, and love together. Seeing so many families come out, kids laughing, and neighbors connecting is exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, supported, and showed up. We’re so grateful for our community. 💛

Special thanks to:
• Melissa G Phillips for helping us make this event possible
• Joyce Mims for donating over 200 pre-filled eggs
• The Chosen Youth Outreach Ministry for your support
• Laketria Baker for coming out to do face painting
• Keontah Munnerlyn for capturing the day through photography

UPDATE: Today our sister Trinity went back to check on the garden we planted with the kids at Light of the City back in October… and it’s thriving. 🌱

We planted it right before winter. Since then it’s faced cold nights, heavy rain, and a few storms yet somehow it’s still growing strong. Every green leaf is proof that what’s planted with care and covered in purpose can outlive harsh seasons.

Seeing it today was a reminder that growth doesn’t stop just because conditions get hard. Sometimes the strongest roots form in the darkest, coldest soil.

Planted late. Still grew. What’s meant to last doesn’t depend on perfect conditions. This isn’t about gardens. 😉♥️

Closing out Black History: Untold with power, purpose, and promise, because honoring the past is only the beginning of what we’re called to build. Legacy lives on through us.

Thank you all for tuning in, same time next year! 🫵🏾

Continuing Black History: Untold by honoring Dr. Hope Landrine, whose work proves that equity in health is justice in action. Her research has brought national attention to racial disparities in healthcare and challenged systems to confront them. Because of voices like hers, the future of public health is becoming more aware, more inclusive, and more accountable. Her legacy reminds us that transforming history sometimes starts with transforming systems.

Starting the closing week of Black History: Untold with a reminder that history isn’t only something we look back on it’s something we create. The stories we tell, the work we do, and the change we pursue today all shape the legacy of tomorrow.

Continuing Black History: Untold with Beta Chi Sigma.

Since its inception, Beta Chi Sigma has proudly achieved several notable accomplishments and recognitions. In 2020, the organization received the prestigious BCHS Trailblazer Award, followed by being honored as one of the 2021 Chosen Youth Outreach Black History Honorees. In 2024, Beta Chi Sigma claimed victory at the Battle of the Bay Step Show. This milestone was made possible by the outstanding efforts of the legendary “Elite 6” — Derriana Bishop, Kaylen Morrison, Jayla West, Anyah Andrews, Brookelyn McWilliams, and Naydia Green.

In February of 2025, Beta Chi Sigma was recognized by the Baldwin County Commission for their volunteer service at the Christmas Drive-Through Light Show at Bicentennial Park in Stockton. The organization has also been featured multiple times in local newspapers and on local television for their impactful events, service projects, and community initiatives. Most notably, Beta Chi Sigma has gained national attention through its social media presence, amassing over 75,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 10,000 followers on Instagram.

Continuing Black History: Untold with Solomon Carter Fuller, a pioneer whose work helped shape the early understanding of mental health and neurological disease. His contributions advanced research, challenged misconceptions, and opened doors in a field where Black voices were rarely recognized. His legacy still influences the way mental health is studied and understood today.

Beta Chi Sigma is currently collecting donations to support a family that is near and dear to our hearts. The Williams family — which includes our beloved alumni members, Ja’Brea and Tre’Kerria — lost their home and all of their belongings in a devastating house fire on Monday, November 10th. As a school and community, we’re coming together to help them during this difficult time.
