I can hear it now “What does the church is not a buffet even mean? And what do puzzle pieces have to do with it?” Hold on don’t call me crazy yet. I want you to think of a buffet what do you like about it? Is it the convenience? Is it the choices? Is it the fact that you can get as much as you want without being judged (sometimes 😂)? Or the fact you don’t have to cook or clean up? Now think of a puzzle. Does a puzzle work if one piece is missing? Can you make do with a piece of another puzzle? Now think about church. Do you treat it like a buffet? Do you go sit and hear the word and leave? Do you only go when it is convenient? Or do you plug-in and find your spiritual gift and use it to serve the church? Do you come to church to serve or be served? When Christians plug-in to different opportunities at church they find their spiritual gift, which becomes their specific mission from God. Each gift that God gives goes to a unique individual with a unique plan, no other person can fill that position. Every person has a unique gift that serves a purpose within the church and when each person uses their spiritual gift to serve the puzzle becomes complete. Every gift big or small is important in the life of a Christian and in the life of a church! Instead of us treating the church like a buffet, let’s become puzzle pieces! 🧩 ✝️
