It's back to school! We hope everyone will have or has had a great first day of school! It's wonderful to see the church and school campuses alive with activity again after a great summer!
Our Special Spotlight is written anonymously: "Special thank you to Jim Mathey for his tremendous efforts in putting together the Youth Ignite concert. Jim dedicated countless hours working not only with the group as a whole, but also one-on-one with each musician, helping them grow in both their skills and confidence. Through his guidance and investment in our youth, they are developing the confidence and leadership skills to serve as leaders today and in the future. Thank you, Jim, for giving so generously of your time and talents and, most importantly, for investing in our kids. We are so grateful for all that you do and for the impact you will continue to have on our youth throughout the year."
WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK
* Tonight the Finance Committee and Church Board meet at 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm respectively.

* This Sabbath our Drinks & Treats ministry will serve in the church foyer.
* This Sabbath Pastor Jim Bollin concludes our sermon series entitled, "Isaiah - The Great Prophet of the 5th Gospel." The church service begins at 10:45 am in the church sanctuary. * This Sabbath is Picnic in the Park at Fairgrounds Community Park (West Picnic Shelter). After the main worship, bring a dish to share and relax at the park eating and fellowshipping with your church family.

* This Sunday is our Pathfinder Club fundraiser from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The Meadow Glade Mountaineers Pathfinder Club will be kicking off the year by selling cotton candy and snow cones at the Classic Car Show in the CAA Parking lot. Come out and show them your support!
* Women to Women (W2W) Bible Study is every Monday at 6:30 pm in the downstairs W2W room. All women are welcome to join! Call/text Shelly Williams at 360-513-5188 for more information and to reserve a book. They are currently off for the summer and will reconvene in September.
* Men's Bible Study happens every Monday at 6:30 pm in the downstairs Wanderer's Sabbath School room, but is off for the summer. They will reconvene September 14.
* Our Battle Ground Adventist Community Services (ACS) Food Bank & Clothing Store is open every Tuesday and Thursday and operates on the bottom floor of our Center Point Building (11117 NE 189th Street). They are open every Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm and every Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Donations are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and the first Sunday of each month from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Check them out online on their personalized website and visit their Facebook site. Please help us spread the word also that our diaper bank program is now closed, but the program is still accessible through Clark County Food Bank.
* This Tuesday our Grief Connect Group Fellowship Lunch is at 12:30 pm in Center Point room 306. Anyone experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one is welcome to come. Come and enjoy good food, fellowship and conversation. Please contact the church office with questions at 360-687-2265.
* Prayer meeting is every Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm and meets in the W2W Sabbath School room downstairs in the church. All are welcome to come!

* October 8, ROCK outing to Mt. Hood Railroad! Cost is $45. This train trip was selected as one of the best 12 fall foliage train rides in the United States (click here to check out the article). WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUTH IGNITE
* What is Youth Ignite? High School age young people lead out in every aspect of the worship service once a month during the school year (except the mission month of March)! Ignite: To Ignite Passion for church service through active participation. Equip: To equip youth through experience, developing skills that can be employed throughout life. Inspire: To inspire through example to all ages (younger children who will look up to the youth; peers who will be more attentive to those involved; and older members who will benefit from fresh and unique perspectives of the youth).
* This year's theme: Strong Enough! 2 Corinthians 12:10, "That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecution, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." Our new season of Youth Ignite begins in October of this year!
WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINISTRY
* Love to sing? Belle Cantori, a women’s chorale ensemble led by Martha Natiuk, a Masters-prepared musician, will be starting their new season on Tuesday, September 15th. Come join us in fun fellowship while providing musical programs once a month at Portland/Vancouver area churches. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings, 7-8 pm, at the Meadow Glade SDA church. * Giving Report: Total Needed in 2026: $693,000. Year to Date Needed 2026: $377,000. Year to Date 2026: $341,379. Year to Date 2025: $280,950.21.
* If you have enjoyed our hot and cold drinks ministry on the occasional Sabbath in the church foyer, please consider contributing by giving to the "Beverage Station" fund.
* Adventist Community Services (ACS) is needing 2-3 more people to join the rotation for bread pick ups on Sunday mornings from 10 am to noon. A larger vehicle is helpful but not required and training is provided. Please contact Maury Parrish if you are able to volunteer at 360-947-1716.
* We would like to call special attention to our Worthy Student fund for the 2025/2026 school year. We have voted as a church board to raise $75,000 for children from our church families who need help to pay for tuition for both Columbia Adventist Academy (CAA) and Meadow Glade Adventist Elementary School (MGAES). This is an extra $40,000 more than we have been accustomed to raising in previous years. It equates to approximately $1,000 per week for the school year. Could you partner with us to help these wonderful kids get a great Adventist education this year? $25, $50, or $100 per month in regular giving each month can do wonders to help! Thank you for prayerfully considering and possibly acting on this appeal for help.
* June 17, 2024, we held a Business Meeting and unanimously voted as a church family to proceed with the fundraising necessary to renovate our Center Point building. A project of up to $2 million was approved with the stipulation we have 90% board donor support and $1.5 million in-hand (including pledges) before work commences. What work will be done with this renovation project? The banquet hall will be refreshed with new countertops and carpeting (and more); the hallways will be uniformly carpeted throughout the majority of the building; a new, large Youth Room created by an expansion and retooling of the existing kitchenette and office (across from Quest Sabbath School); our industrial kitchen will be retooled and fully functional again; the hallway closest to the church will be renovated to match the nicer side of the building including new doorways, ceiling and sheetrock throughout; 4 new adult Sabbath School classrooms created in the vacant storage rooms located on that hall; and new, much higher capacity restrooms created on that hallway for men and women. We have $214,944.26 in pledges and collected funds so far. If you would like to give toward this project, please give to our church "Center Point Building Fund." We are so grateful for everyone who has been involved in the work over the past few years that has led us to this exciting point! May God bless us and continue to move in our hearts collectively to move expediently on this project as we have done so many times in our history.

Many of you have faithfully supported Family Promise of Clark County over the years, while others are just beginning to learn about our work. * Your church family is invited to our next First Friday on 09/04/2026. First Friday is a once-monthly inspirational community fellowship event. It will be held at Adventist Health Portland Medical Center. It begins at 7:15 p.m. on the lower level in Amphitheaters C & D. This First Friday will feature an inspirational talk by Chaplain Mitchell Powers and music by Evergreen Sound. * Jumpstart Program - Meadow Glade Adventist Elementary School is excited to announce their Kindergarten Jumpstart Program! * Meadow Glade Neighborhood Association Classic Car Show will be Sunday, August 30 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Columbia Adventist Academy. Pre-registration is required for all cars. To register and find more information,click here.
* It's time to come home! If you graduated from Columbia Adventist Academy 50 or more years ago, Columbia Classics is especially for you. But we're not stopping there! If you're a friend, spouse, classmate, or simply someone who enjoys spending time with our "Classics," you're invited too. And since the pool of 50-year graduates keeps getting smaller, due to the dorms closing in 1977, we're opening the door and inviting those who graduated 40+ years ago as well! Join us on Saturday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the CAA Cafeteria/Chapel building for a special time of reconnecting, remembering, and celebrating the Columbia family. Come catch up with old friends and classmates, share stories, reminisce about the people and places that made your Columbia experience special, and make a few new memories along the way. And, of course, we'll share a potluck lunch together afterward! Bring a dish or two to share—and bring a friend or classmate along with you. * Portland's Singing Christmas Tree Youth Cast is desperately seeking 5th - 8th graders to join this year's choir. They can submit a video audition up until August 31st. She has been a long-time member of Portland's Singing Christmas Tree!)
* "Celebrate the 500th Anniversary" of the New Testament being published in English! Hosted by Oregon Conference President Dr. John McVay and Tabernacle SDA Church. Everyone is welcome to share in these celebrations throughout this year. September 19 – Discussion: "Does William Tyndale Still Matter?" Contact the church office by email for "homework" beforehand! October 24 – Experience: "Reading Tyndale's 1526 New Testament." Come ready to read! We hope you'll join in celebrating this momentous anniversary!
* We are so excited to share that our Middle School and High School Bible Camps are only six weeks away! These Bible Camps are intentionally designed to create space for Generation Z and Generation Alpha students – whether they attend public school, private school, or are homeschooled – to begin their school year centered on Jesus. Our prayer is that every student leaves encouraged and equipped to intentionally walk with Him while becoming more connected and engaged in the life of your local church. Theme: HERE ON PURPOSE. Through dynamic worship, engaging messages, authentic small groups, intentional prayer experiences, exciting activities, and meaningful community, students will discover that God is always at work on purpose – and because of that, we are called to live on purpose. Throughout the weekend, we'll explore what it looks like to intentionally engage with God, the church, our communities, and the world around us. Ultimately, Bible Camp is an invitation for students to embrace a life of purpose, presence, and intentionality. The attached documents entail an information packet (includes everything you, your church leaders, parents, and students need to know about both Bible Camps), a basic info graphic that could be shown during announcements, and a bulletin insert/flyer.
