September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. For LGBTQ+ people, this is real life, not a statistic on a page.

The Trevor Project's research is clear: LGBTQ+ young people are not inherently at higher risk because of who they are. They're placed at higher risk by rejection, stigma, and the absence of affirming spaces. The same research shows the opposite is just as true — where affirmation exists, so does life.

That's the work RMN exists to do. Every congregation that chooses to see LGBTQ+ people as sacred, as fully made in the image of God — every leader who says "you belong here" and means it — is doing holy work.

Everyday essentials like shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors, feminine hygiene items, laundry detergent, and cleaning supplies can make a major difference for local families working hard to stretch limited budgets.

When households receive hygiene and household items through the food bank, it helps free up income for groceries, rent, transportation, utilities, and other important expenses.

These items support more than physical health — they help provide dignity, confidence, and peace of mind during challenging seasons.

If you’re planning your next donation, consider including hygiene and household essentials alongside pantry staples.

Don't forget the pets

Pet food can be a powerful donation.

For many families, pets are beloved companions and part of the household. During difficult financial seasons, pet food support can help relieve pressure on already-stretched grocery budgets.

Donations of unopened dry cat and dog food, along with pet supplies, help families care for their animals while preserving more of their budget for groceries, transportation, utilities, and other essentials.
